Now that's relatable. Seriously, my reactions when I first saw Terminator were pretty similiar. I wasn't going to read this manga at first, but the protagonist is too great to drop it.

PS obviously the first one is the best. duh.

Yeah...

because they all stay inside and watch movies!

I suppose stalking around various apartment complexes waiting for sounds of furious blogging about movies isn't the right way to meet them then?

Damn!

I can relate to this. I remember watching movies that I probably shouldn't have when I was way too young and being terrified and then fascinated by them. Mine was John Carpenter's The Thing movie.

heh heh..... same. While I never fell in love with movies as much as our protagonist or some other people/relatives I know, I do have a childhood memory of a moment just like this when I stayed up to watch Lethal Weapon 4 when I was 8. The funny part was how it happened:

8-year old me: Mom, Dad, I wanna stay up to watch Lethal Weapon 4. It'll run till like 1 in the morning but it's the weekend. I'll close up and go to bed.

Parents:

Mine was "Mac and me"... Goddammit, those butt-ugly consumerist aliens...

Just how can she like Terminator 3?!?! The second one is the best one. P.S. But I agree that the fourth is just garbage

I never understood why scanlators bother with translating SFX at all. What is happening is obvious from the panels alone - manga being as horribly overexpressive as it is - so the SFX always end up entirely superfluous. It's like those extremely shitty Japanese TV shows where you have a screen showing what's happening, a guy narrating what's happening, and colorful text on the screen describing what's happening. It's so much extra work for something no one really needs.

(The one exception to this is of course porn, where all the little SFXs play a critical role)

It's more just completeness and perfectionism, but JP sfx are very different from English sfx.

But in this manga...The sheer volume of sfx, plus the mangaka's art style filling up all the available space, makes it fairly impossible to do without basically redrawing every page. So this way gets the job done, preserves the art style, maintains a reasonable release schedule, and keeps the redrawers and typesetters from going completely homicidal.

Old scars eh? Haven't seen those movies since I was like 7 so I can barely even remember. Only saw the first two I think. Maybe I should find the time to properly watch them all out.
