I like the re-contextualisation of ghouls. It was kinda inconsistent in the original how Kaneki and Hide didn't know how ghouls look exactly like humans given how long ghouls were around.
Yeah. I'm surprised they messed with the panels and dialog. I went back and re-read the original and I prefer it.
Ishida has always worked with a tablet, though, this isn't new.
idk if its just me but i prefer the original art and rize looked fine back then. the new art looks way to digital and you can tell its done by tablet. i like his old art
'I just thought it would be super neat if we could talk to each other about books, that's all~"
Sweet innocent Kaneki. Untainted by the ghoul world lol.
For those of you complaining about the quality of TG:Re's art, here's something to keep in mind if you're reading your chapters from a certain other team that can be abbreviated as MS.
One of MS's focuses is on being fast. And they are fast! Amazingly fast! And the quality they deliver is pretty great given how fast they are! But because they need to be fast, they not only need to go through the various scanlating steps as quickly as possible, they need to use the first set of raws they can get. That means using magazine raws, and while I can't comment on the exact quality of MS's raws, magazine scans are generally kind of bad even on a good day. Here's an idea of the kind of quality we're talking about.
You can imagine how details can be lost cleaning/redrawing such raws, especially if you're trying to go fast. Normally if you want better quality art, you'd need to wait for the collected volumes, and that happens several months after the magazine release. Definitely not an option if you're trying to go fast! But with TG:Re, there is a third option.
Young Jump releases several of its series online, and TG:Re is one of them! As you can see, it's two chapters behind MS, but the quality is much better. In fact, I vaguely remember reading somewhere that this is basically the digital files that Ishida drew, put up on the internet for people to see (pls correct me if im wrong). Doesn't get much better than that!
So if there's a scene in the manga that seems particularly muddled and you don't mind waiting, you can always check out the high quality raws for art details. Or if you want english in your manga, you can always wait for someone to scanlate the hq version. Right here on batoto in fact! Releases by crossbreed scans use the hq raws, and their translation quality is generally better (again, see going fast above).
Of course, if you're complaining about the art in the high quality raws, then I can't help you
EDIT: And because a picture is worth a thousand words, a side by side comparison, not against MS scans, but against a fan scanlation using less than optimal raws. You get the point.
He should focus on Re. The fight scenes are such crap, do they really think it looks good? Or are they going for "its so edgy cuz you dont know wtf is going on." Either way, something needs to be done....
>"Lives the same way humans do"
>Turns into ghoul
>Proceeds to pretty much kill EVERYTHING
Best.Day.Ever.
The chapter that started it all being redrawn by the masterful Ishida-sensei is the best thing ever.
I know. Really, sometimes the drawings of Re seem like made without time. Other times I can't actually understand what the hell is happening or who is actually fighting.
Sometime's I wonder if Ishida even sleep's ...
I don't really think Tokyo Ghoul need's a redrawn version, but I would love to have one for Tokyo Ghoul:re not that I hate the art there but sometime's the fight's look kinda melted x'D
Looool, I love the Afterword and the cover and the double color page...and well the whole series xD
1st chapter only as a one-off promo
doesnt really make fiscal sense to redraw the whole series
Thank you Ishida-sensei for your gracious work!! I'm definitely all excitement for this redrawn version!!! <3<3<3
Is this really happening!? or he just redraw only the first chapter...?
God the art is just gorgeous.
Certainly an improvement but I would have never called the old chapter ugly or Rize a pig. Eating as well as she did just gave her some nice curves.
