Finally decided to sit and read this one and gosh, this author knows how to grab you by your heart muscle.
Truly a story full of sadness.
and it kinda feels christmassy
Betting these storybook chapters are in part because nagabe likes the work of Komako Sakai, a children's book illustrator. Or so he said in this interview here.
Mentioning this since it is a neat detail. The soldiers mainly use bows and arrows when battling the cursed or people they believe have been exposed to the curse. All in order to not get touched.
Edit: One other thing. I wonder if it is due to teacher is making new memories with Shiva that he is less forgetful than his brethren. I personally am not convinced that is the case, but it is a possibility.
it helped me, so thanks
really interesting series.
Fuck this King, seriously.
1st he want to kill her, then capture her bcz religion, then kill her again bcz he messed up badly ?
mfw this chapter
Somewhat similar. Tone has more melancholy, less wonder . . . you don't interact with a wider magical world of all different magical beings. There's an underlying main plot which drives things forward (and is really quite dark).
It's different in that the girl and creepy creature have much more of a parent/child relationship with no romance implied, and the setting is vaguely medieval rather than modern-day.
They're both good though.
They do feel kind of similar sometimes, mainly in the fantastic and mysterious atmospheare and the fact that both stories relvolve around a monster- human girl relationship, but most of the time they are pretty different: first of all, here there is obviously no romance vibes since the girl is still very young, and to me the entire story feels like a children's book, which much darker tones, sometimes. Cute, sad and poetic, it's definitely worth a read, in my opinion. Hope it helped! ^^
I haven't read yet, but I get a Mahoutsukai no Yome vibe from this manga's initial summary and cover; how similar in story or tone are they?

It seems I've been missing updates somehow mixed with the huge amount of crap i follow and now I'm completely lost. Time for that re-read.
On another note, I'm really happy I got reminded this thing existed <3
Thanks for the update.

This manga is playing with my feelings so much, making me hopeful and just-
Thought I'd look for the finished scans of Shoulder-a-Coffin Kuro that this reply suggests would exist. It appears this is not the case. To the contrary, it seems it is ongoing but licensed and so no longer being scanlated. So I could, like, buy it, or most of it, in English.
Aaaaaand she's gone.
:/
welp
Oh no...
It's already finished and scanlated.
