Yay~ it's still alive!
THAT WAS SOME UNEXPECTED FEELS
I think that settles it, thanks! I wasn't sure of the original word being used. Not to mention that right after I posted I was thinking that even Otousan/okaasan, (mother/father even in the west) tends to be used after a couple has a child and they didn't. (Which kind of makes me wonder if it's possible due to the growth thing.) True. Especially to people who aren't used to others in a particular lifestyle. Though I wonder how much of it is due to not having mental growth vs choosing to act like a child. I'm gong to be sad if if's the former, but we haven't seen any story continuations with characters (I haven't tried looking at raws and not going to).
Also, thank you and the rest of Fallen Syndicates for the work you do and picking this series up!
Yo. Translator here. What you're saying is totally right, but in the raws Miyo says パパ which is literally "Papa". I think what the writer was trying to imply here is that the couple decided that Miyo should refer to Okuno as her father so that they could hug and kiss and be cute in public without people thinking it was weird, even though it actually is weird, if you get what I'm saying.
A late reply, but in regards to this, while I don't know the original wording prior to translation, the term papa and father as well as mama and mother are often used by couples in older times. I would say "the old country" but there are records of that in "the new country" not too long ago (100, 200 years?). It makes most sense when talking to a child "Go ask mommy" or something along those lines, but many cultures refer to their spouse using father and mother. This is different than a girl calling her partner "Daddy" in some circles. In Japan, it seems to be also common (or was) to refer to otosan and okasan to each other. In more modern times we see people refer to each other by name instead and I think the author used this to their advantage to have the wife call her husband otosan just to drop the legal loli thing on us.
As for chapter 5... man... I'm glad I was actually cutting onions.
GMZ's translator here! Sonoda and Saku went to see the fireworks in the summer when they broke up, and Sonoda made the recording a few months later in February right before she died. The summer after that, Saku went back to the roof to see Sonoda's projection. The writer jumped around in time quite a bit in this chapter, and I'm sorry it wasn't clear what was going on 100% of the time. I'll be more careful in future chapters!
She died a year ago but she made the recording half a year ago...
She meant "forget me and go fuck some other girls" you absolute retard. She didn't want you to LITERALLY forget her, since that's absolutely impossible (further ensured by her theatrics). It's a common expression dumbass.
Suppose I'm glad they've known each other since childhood so he's not necessarily a pedophile. But then that means at some point, for some reason, she figured "alright, I'm gonna call my husband 'papa' from now on".
Huh?
And then she worries people will see him as her father if they go out. Yeah, they might.
Yep. Nothing like watching those you love age and die before you to put a damper on your mood.
I kinda saw it coming, but it's a bit weird that she calls her husband papa. That would make for some very awkward pillow talk... or kinky if he's into that sort of thing. This is like the one situation in a million where it's actually ok.
Wait a minute, so his wife has eternal youth? Damn son, you're both lucky and unlucky there.
His wife?! That really caught me off guard...
pretty damn good
Yup. Monthly Comic Rex.
First and foremost, this manga is rather interesting and enjoyable. Especially the second and third chapter were fun to read and I look forward to the next one. Thank you people translating this, you are great! (I would also like to thank the author for writing it.)
The spoiler below contains my frustration with the first chapter, which I sadly did not enjoy as much.
That was what I thought at first... until I saw one publisher tag a manga with both 'directed towards male audience' and 'directed towards female audience' at the same time.
