The thing I find amusing is that if there are actually TWO different light novels about reincarnating as a slime. The other one doesn't have a manga though.
Yet another manga where someone gets reincarnated into a fantasy world as a powerful warr... um... A slime? Followed.
I'm following this for now in hope that it turns out to be the fresh, interesting, well-written, twist on a nearly cliche premise that its differences suggest it to be, and is able to grow beyond that in order to become something wonderful and unique. Well, that and the adorable protagonist.
On another note, ever wonder what this sort of manga would look like done by a shoujo mangaka? xD

Years ago, we have the trend of submissive/butler MC with a tsundere heroine (Shakugan no Shana, Toradora, Zero no Tsukaima)
Infinite Stratos and Date A Live popularize the harem settings even more and it one fads that seem to never die.
Before this we have the trend of Gary Stuish MC in a modern fantasy (school) settings like Kaze no Stigma, Chrome Shelled Regios, and then Mahouka popularize the settings which followed with series like Seirei Tsukai no Blade Dance and uh, many other stuff.
.Hack used to monopolize the "Trapped in a online game" settings until SAO comes and popularize it, and then followed by Log Horizon, NGNL and Danmachi which more focused on World exploration and then followed by more niche series like Mushoku Tensei, Re:Monster ,Tate Yuusha Nariagari, etc.
Who knows what the next fad going to be though *shrug*
