That would explain why, by Douman Seiman standards, this is pretty normal.

Have seen the original, live-action movie in the interim, actually. It's rather unique. It's... how should I put it... compellingly uneventful. As in, it somehow manages to make it ordinariness and lackadaisical approach to storytelling into its "charm point". Plus, it'll be very realistic for a dozen minutes or so... then just through in a very slight curveball, making you go "wait, what?" It won't be shocking or anything, just uncanny -- enough to make you question the reality of the situation. Then, out of nowhere, they'll sneak in a really touching moment. Like the bit with the dad. The dad be awesome.
Anyway, yeah. Sorry bout that:
