Won't anyone translate the latest chapters in English :"|
Thank you ^^
It's okay ^^
Yep, thank you. Ru and En versions are different in some places.
Hello! Thank you for your answer.
Sorry, I didn't know that much about "gender" and "agender" in English language. Thank you for information, it was not intentional. I was selfish and I'm so sorry now.
Have you read Russian version? I think the quality of translation is good. It just needs to change some female pronouns.
Hi.
I can help with Ru-En, my English isn't superb, but should be enough, the question is the quality of Ja-Ru translation.
First of all. It was explained by the scanlators that the characters prefer gender-neutral or male pronouns and way of speech (boku/ore) and call themselves brothers in the original. The author draws them androgynous too, and does a great job at that, you can't call them males or females, same goes for Sensei, he has the same androgynous body as well (as seen in chapter 20, page 21), whereas Wentricosus and her brother are gendered.
It's common in many languages without gender-neutral pronouns to use male pronouns as a replacement for gender-neutral ones, sorta like default gender.
We can assume safely that the characters are genderless (agender, look http://gender.wikia.com/wiki/Agender )
So how should someone translate it? Definitely NOT using female pronouns if they don't present in the original text. If it's written "brother", you translate it as "brother" and not as "sister". Otherwise it's not a translation but a fanfiction.
There is a gender-neutral singular "they" in English, however using male pronouns as default pronouns, and not actually male, doesn't annoy me (as agender, I use both).
I hope it was not intentional, just so you know: it's rude to turn agender into being gendered (changing their pronouns to female ones, you imply that the characters are females). And it can confuse people, since the characters may seem feminine looking (in fact, they don't) at first glance, ppl may think they are women.
We need Japanese-to-English or Russian-to-English translator!
Sorry for my bad English.
I love this manga
I've found it in Russian - first translated chapters was published on March, 2014 (here first three were reuploaded, but the forth one was uploaded on March, 17, 2014 and so on)
Then I've found English translation. I shouldn't use it by myself, I had to give it to scanlators from the beginning. Sorry for my previous mistakes with gender - in Russian we choose them to use feminine pronouns, because in Russian there is also no genderless pronouns.
Maybe we shouldn't change them from feminine to masculine - this was another mistake.
I've made some huge mistakes, I'm so-so-so sorry! How can I redeem my fault?
I didn't know batoto had the manga in here!! I read all the chapters in one go, I really like this series. Very original and interesting.
Thanks to the scanlators and I hope to see more!
yea, I want the cute female version of him back.
stupid Phos turning into a full blown male... (IE: he start to look male)
Cause Gems are genderless, but they all call themselves by males, but they all look females, especially the clothings, style, and body figures they all have..
Stupid Sensei's monopolizing a harem of small cute girls (even they tho don't have gender)...
Bring back long haired Phos, he looks like shit right now
What to say about this chapter, cute? Fluffy? kawaii? Give me your opinions guys.
Needs a translator.
NO. That information is already in the very first page of the manga for Christ's sake. A translation note doesn't belong in the description. If some people either forgot what they read or skipped that because reading was "too much of a bother" putting that in the description makes no difference.
Maybe this manga is a.....hidden game...XD
I feel like putting that in the description makes it a big thing when it really shouldn't be, though. It's really not important to the story at all.
This is getting so intense aaa
I know it's wrong, but... You have to realize
that deep down in my heart it has always been and will always be
all-girl-on-girl-action, yes even Adamant!
Oh come on! Let those crystals have a dang victory for once!
And about them being boys or not- I read someone's comment a while ago that made a lot of sense; they probably have no concept of gender identity like we do because they don't reproduce. I can't say for sure how it's truly worded in the original since I haven't seen the raws, but either way the Gem People likely would have developed their own language that is genderless since most things human seem to be a foreign to them anyways.
Thank you so much Habanero scans for catching up so quickly!
Y'know, I'm not sure that they are. By the fact that the translation switched everyone's gender halfway through, I'd assumed the original Japanese intentionally avoids gender pronouns.
It's just doing that in proper english for a long time is hard.
It's actually getting there in the special case of Phos, though. He's got two different gems in his body plus gold and platinum binding. More jewelry than jewel/gem.
Edit: Darnit, I forgot they're all dudes now.
Love how manga magazine splash page for this chapter (21) has the engrish footnote, "Kingdom of jewelry".
Close. So close. But no cigar.
This chapter, I like it! Another! smashes mug
But really, with every chapter I'm more intrigued. What a unique story.
