How old on average are the authors that include bully elements?

Writers in all countries and cultures tend to write school life from their perspective. It's why you still see the style of Japanese swimsuits around that haven't been in use for decades, or people actually having or using school lockers. Maybe bullying was actually a thing back in the 80s or 90s. A lot can change in a decade.

Here in the West coast, commercials by soccermoms still seem to be subtly implying that bullying is still a thing and not something that might cause actual retaliation.

Bullying that occurs on the west coast of the US in highschool is nothing like bullying that occurs in Korea. Source: I went to highschool in California and did a year abroad my junior year in Korea.

That Yandere boy creeps me out O_O

Not to add to the wall of texts, but I'd say a bigger reason for bullying as a plot device is the fact that it's tagged school life. And lets face it, it doesn't matter where you're from bullying is a pretty universal occurrence in schools, though some may have it worse than others.

Plus you have to admit it is a very convenient plot device. Anyways I have no complaints with cliches that are done well.

Hmm, I'm don't know why there's so many bullying manhwas but I don't think it's all that common. For me, I read manhwas so that I can de-stress from school life as well as from other things. Maybe the characters in manhwas don't tell their parents because they aren't that close with them or because they're afraid to let their parents know (?) Perhaps I also enjoy reading about school life because it's so different from my own and I can momentarily escape all the homework and other pressures from life? (I feel like most people feel this way too), but anyways, what you said earlier about Korea is wrong, manhwas don't always depict real life. Do you understand what I'm trying to say?

I know what you're trying to say, not trying to bash or offend anybody but I'll just say that you have to take in consideration that the culture in Asia, especially in China, Korea, or Japan is completely different compared to the western countries, like the U.S, or Europe. I don't know which part of the world you're from but in those parts of Asia, people are more likely to suicide just because of stress or pressure from school such as a bad grade. I'm not sure if bullying is that common there but it does get as bad as it is depicted in the manga/manwha.
While what I say isn't from firsthand experience nor do I claim it to be absolute, some of what I've said should be at least true.

still the first page of comments and we're alrdy invaded by giant walls of text, awesome.

So far this webtoon is pretty enjoyable, not much is known about most of the characters yet but some of the comedy is not bad.

Actually I did not say anything earlier . It's my first(well second now lol) in this thread. I read whatever I want simply because I've got too much free time...

Don't cry please lol

So the bullying there is not common? I wonder why it is shown in many comics in that case. And also why usually in comics no one tells their parents about bullying?  As they want to be bullied lol. Also I rather enjoy their school life(lol): student council,  sports festival, delinquents gangs, fights between schools...(tjhough the latter I think usually is rather exaggerated)

P.S. Actually bullying is rather entertaining process. Even enjoyable sometimes... At least it was at school as far as I remember. Well whatever...

What you said about Korea being a land of tyranny, horror, whatever is really far from the truth! There are plenty of nice people and the violence events that you read about in manhwas aren't even common. You shouldn't be judging one nation if you haven't even been to the country and seen what it's like. Also, you shouldn't believe in everything that you read about in comics (I can tell that you two've only been reading the violent comics too). The comment that Africa's a safer place than Korea shows what kind of an ignorant person that you are and iceymilk, since you also agreed with Garrum, it shows what sexist and bigoted people you two are! You two should apologize to every Korean out there! > :(

Don't cry please lol

Calm down Bronacho, and read my post again, this time without taking it literally.

Though, the presence of so much violence and rape towards women in Korean manhwa is real. I remember when I read my first few manhwa years ago, and in almost all of them the female characters were abuse magnets. Keep in mind these were not aimed at guys or porn books catering to certain fetishes, these were supposed to be plain old romance comics for girls. Did I somehow manage to find every instance of abuse in manhwa all at once as soon as I started reading them? Maybe, but I have a feeling that it's just a lot more common than in manga.

Well, authors can only write what they know, and since Korea is a land of tyranny, violence, and horror, it shows through in their manhwa. They try and hide it, but from my studies on 15-20 manhwa, I have come to the conclusion that Africa is a safer place for a woman than Korea. If you aren't being physically beaten by some guy that may or may nor be wearing makeup, it's only because he's worn out from the beating he gave you earlier, and as soon as he gets his strength back, the beatings will continue as planned. And if he's not beating you and he's not tired, then he's most definitely raping you, or watching his friends rape you. And if he's not beating you, resting, or raping you, then he is heaping the most intense and unrelenting emotional abuse on you that he can muster.

That the main female character hasn't been beaten and/or raped all the way to death in the current 6 chapters is highly shocking, and makes me wonder if perhaps this is actually not a Korean manhwa at all, but is instead a Taiwanese comic, as those are known for being all fluffy vanilla and stuff.

SO ACCURATE!! HAHAHAHA

Yeah, I agree, it probably is a Taiwanese comic. After all, if it was a shoujo manhwa, then the female character would dress/look/have the appearance of a man, who looks like a female as well, also questioning the overall gender of any character. Then, the female would be beating up everyone and finding love by beating up the love interest.

Frankly, I never knew spineless characters came out of shoujo manhwa unless it was a side character that the main would protect to look awesome.

Another mawhwa with bullying elements.

Man, this author's legendary.

The expressionism on the main characters is absolutely hilarious and cute! Plus, the author gave her a funny and cute personality to go with that.

So far, I can say that nasty cat always made great work with great plots, great characters and a mysterious world in those stories. Respect to the author's talent.

:D Loving this so far. There are too few funny webtoons in my reading list. Must find more.

Another mawhwa with bullying elements.

I haven't that gotten far yet, but I can see that there might be fantasy fight. (Well, there were some hints in prologue and chapter 1, but... meh.)

This is sort of shoujo-ish...

Man she so cute!~~

I love this! It's hilarious as usual of Nasty Cat's manhwa!

- and you guys' chat too. xD
