You know, more or less throwing a tantrum over some constructive criticism and threatening to drop the series despite all the positive feedback you've received doesn't make you seem any more reasonable...

hey, did you just start a new accusation to me too? who's said i'm threatening? I dropped this series for good, and with this last comment of mine here, i'm taking my leave and unsubscribe this series.

Here you're basically telling sofyflo that their opinion is irrelevant and invalid purely because your have judged the work differently and sofyflo is being hypercritical and stupid by not using their own intelligence to decipher the proper wording. Also, you're saying that you won't go back and redo the work because it's already done, which is perfectly fine, but you are implying that sofyflo is demanding that you redo it and thus is unreasonable. A polite way of saying this might be something like this:

"I didn't see the need for proofreaders. There are typos, but I can still understand it. You can't?

I don't plan to redo it, and I'm honestly not convinced. Why can't you understand it?"

This doesn't imply anything wrong with sofyflo, and if you thought they insulted you in any way you can just ask them not to say or imply such things instead of returning fire. It also opens up discussion by asking why rather than rudely ending it by saying that's just how it is.

 

Here you are directly saying that sofyflo is just nitpicking about Korean naming and typos despite sofyflo's repeated claims that they are talking about whole sentences that don't make sense. Basically, you are ignoring what they are saying and calling them stupid again.

 

Here you finally make it clear why you think the work doesn't need proofreading, but you are just justifying it by claiming it is the best translation. The point of proofreading is to correct errors and change the wording so it sounds right and is understandable. Sofyflo has clearly said that, even disregarding typos, the wording can't be understood and sounds weird. Saying that they're wrong because it's the best translation and fine in your opinion is insulting and unreasonable.

 

You then go on to tell me that I'm saying you're not open to criticism, but I said you are getting upset over constructive criticism like it's just unreasonable complaints. I'm just asking you to calm down and be a bit more civil and polite. I went on to explicitly say that I do appreciate your work and just think you should try to improve it. Now you're basically saying that you're dropping this because I don't appreciate you, but no hard feelings. If that's not unreasonable, I don't know what is.

Alright, coicidentally i'm getting more and more busy with my work and i'd rather spend my free time to work on other series if it's like this, so i'm dropping this series, no more release from us. I did spent quite some money to import the book volume 10 from korea, but sorry no hard feeling, no use if our efforts not appreciated and even accusing me this and that. Hopefully other group with great korean translator pick this up.

i know about scanlation stuff.
The typos aren't that significance to disturb the dialog. The typos are on page 22, the text is "sh'es", supposedly "she's". I dont know which part you mean but i guess you mistaken it with the weird characters name (like Uhm Ah Reum or Oh Mi Ri)

I think you miss the point here...
Please dont mind my english because i'm not the translator, BUT the translator for this series IS a native english, that's why i said no need proofreaders, and you can confirm the translation with other korean translator you may know if you're not satisfied, go ahead the source raw for this chapter is available on internet. This is the best possible quality you can get until you can point out the mistakes we did (if any). I always open for critism and will revise the release if needed. The current release (chapter 60) already the way it is, no need for revision, as for the awkward/jumbled dialog you mentioned in your comment, reread it again and compare it with the raws.

I understand Korean naming conventions, and I'm not talking so much about grammatical typos as multiple cases wherein the language sounds awkward, jumbled, or just wrong. It can't be helped if the translator's English isn't perfect, because that's where proofreaders come in. I don't mean offence, but you might not notice these mistakes because your English isn't perfect either, however to a native speaker it looks...kinda unprofessional....

I have to agree that there are several cases where the language used is incomprehensible. Sometimes it's clearly a matter of a non-native speaker using improper grammar that you can figure out the meaning, but other times it's so jumbled that the meaning is entirely lost. Either way, it noticeably takes away from the flow and comedy of the work.

I have to say, you're being rather rude here Dinara. As much as I can sympathize with scanlators that practically work for free and share their work only to get rude criticism for failing to meet high expectations in return, I think it's very important to accept constructive criticism, like what sofyflo has been providing, politely, even if you don't agree. From what I've seen, sofyflo has been nothing but kind and polite this whole time.

Please don't misunderstand; I really do appreciate your work. However, when quality is so low it detracts from the meaning and enjoyment of the work, that's a red flag for scanlators to try to improve it. Otherwise, the group can easily degrade into a troll group, given enough time, that develops a bad reputation and people avoid. There are even cases where another group steps in and redoes the scanlation, and I can only imagine how bad that feels.

I may not know exactly why you scanlate, but for the most part, scanlators share their work so they can share an untranslated work they enjoy with others who enjoy it too. If other fans can't enjoy the work because of faulty translation that could easily be corrected with proofreading, doesn't that detract from the point?
