Sensei no Bulge

It's not too "mature", it's just too "childish". WSJ readers are growing up so you can't really say it's still the same 12-15 y/o readers. Also, Jump won't do a generation shift just yet because most its lineups are very successful, heck, they even brought back Matsui.

It reminds me of Magico in the one aspect that the prominent theme is not the one that most of other shounen mangas have. Magico had love while this one has family (not friendship and such) and I like this aspect pretty much but as one can see... young boys fighting for their romantic love or their ideal of family being the most important thing in the world don't seem to push the buttons of SJs readers. Perhaps those themes are a bit (a really little bit) too "mature" for the audience?

I lol'd at the tagline at the front page of chapter 12.



Fail manga is fail

Just to make some things clear, the voters in the rankings are the readers of the magazine themselves. The readers have a high influence whether the series in question should be axed or not. The reason why the rankings are low should be obvious: it's not really interesting. Of course it's full of cliches typical in shounen mangas, but it makes up with a good story (like Magico was). Also, the art is unique, it's somehow fresh. The thing is, it doesn't capture the interest of the readers much. It's overshadowed with its brethren, which have a better presentation than Bulge. Also, the story is outright predictable. If anything, the success of other series is that the events are much more unpredictable (hmm... like Minamoto-kun Monogatari perhaps? but it's a Seinen manga, so...).

If it does not do well in the later rankings, we will definitely see the end of this series soon, unless, if you want, you buy the magazine and join in the voting process.
