While this is touching, this is fucking retarded by a huge number of standards.
Keep in mind they aren't making all this up, this is all based on real people. Putting it as spoilers because this might be what the next chapter is about and don't want to lessen the emotional significance of the story.
I somehow feel that grandmother is Rita. Or perhaps her daughter. She wouldn't be this emotionally invested in that distillery if she were not part of the family.
