What a solid (so far) MC. Outside of the fantasy setting, the interactions feel real and his grasp on things is that of a young man his age... and not a horny teen with no clue about anything.

It doesn't matter how much "experience" the author has, he is making a product for sale. As such, it should conform to wishes and preferences of the target audience. It's business. Generic beta-kun harems speak far more about the character of a typical male manga reader - since that's what they want to see - than the character of the author.
