When he realizes Masaru is being pursued by assassins, he steps in to protect the boy, only to discover that instead of conventional weapons, the assassins wield huge, eerie puppets. They soon encounter the mysterious Shirogane (age unknown), who controls a puppet of her own, and claims she was sent from France by Masaru's late grandfather to protect him. Their paths intertwine and diverge, splitting into two stories: Karakuri and Circus, puppets and performers, tears and laughter. The strange circus of living dolls that spreads Zonapha Syndrome, the human puppets known collectively as the Shirogane, and the puppeteers whose undying grudge set in motion both sides of this performance. |

You have spotted a good point. It involves some spoilers from some volumes ahead so all I can tell is it wasn't a plot hole and the questions would be answered some time later

I like Masaru because he isn't a typical shounen elite fighter. He's got a strong heart and is learning little by little from everyone around him gradually becoming a badass instead of being one right off the bat.

So there's some questions I haven't seen the story address or touch on at all: if that dog was made a Shirogane by the Aqua Vitae that Jin dissolved himself into, why does it attack the automata? If it was made a Shirogane by the Shirogane order, how did it get here and who put it there? Lucille, who is a leader or THE leader of the Shirogane, wasn't aware it existed.
Sorry to disappoint you but masaru and narumi are like dual main characters, with diferent quest.
I really have to pick this up again. Dropped it after they decided that Masaru, or whatever the little boy is called, should be super strong and great and all. (God I hate his character. Him and the circus fillers were the reason why I dropped this in the first place.)
Anyway, the manga is looking quite good right now. Will have to read it through and hope that Masaru somehow never appears again, which I doubt will happen. (My wish for his disappearance, that is.). Sorry for being grumpy.

In his defense, There's no way he would know how bad of a choice that was. He was completely ignorant regarding shiroganes and automatas mins ago.
This time i'm blaming all this to the guy that bring the book down...
