Well, I was only replying to your comment about the cliche of MCs who were child soldiers. Nothing about MCs who are Tsenderes or reincarnateds like World Teacher.
My statement still stands, I'm not sure if Child Soldier MCs are common enough to be classed as a "overused". Unless of course you call "trained from an early age because I was abandoned at x monastory" the same as child soldier. In which case, it does become a cliche
Ah, yeah FMP is probably where I first saw that. And Irregular at Magic High is prob my all time highest fave at the moment.
The anime (both of them + ova) for FMP is probably best. The Manga went strange (for me anyways) towards the end.
The manga and anime for Irregular are pretty good and I think its the first series that I'm reading/watching in all 3 formats - Anime, Manga and Light novel. They aren't exactly the same. And irritatingly, there are bits in each that must have been deliberately left out of the others so you have to try and get all 3 to get full picture.
Well this is just some manga not history lesson. Its just that formula they use when the child MC is like a self-insert, isnt interested in girls but loads are interested in him.
And as for other mangas I really couldnt name them cause they have long names lol World Teacher does come into mind though
The Irregular at Magic High School and Full Metal Panic also have an MC that was in the military from an early age. I've only seen the anime for each of them, so I don't know if the mangas are any good.
I dunno where you get Infinite Stratos from, I'd have said its an almost copy of

As for the trope of "Young MC who's been in the army since 6 (really?)". It used to happen a lot more often than you realise. Look at how young some of the people who got hauled off in Napoleon's or Wellington's armies were. And they certainly didn't ask for proof of age in the Warsaw Ghettos when the SS rolled in. The illegality of Child soldiers is a very new thing.
BTW, can you list some other mangas that do have the "young MC who's been in the army since 6" kinda stories? I actually like them and wouldn't mind more reading choices
Agreed, I'm getting really tired of something claiming to be a harem when there are only two women, I mean technically it's polygamy at two but still.........
Can this even be called a Harem? There's only 2 girls, with a possible third.
Infinite Stratos has like 7, I never kept track. Harems are usually only 4 or more.
Nisekoi is a Harem and there's clearly 5 (Chitoge, Haru, Kosaki, Marika, Tsugumi)
LOL.
It's magic.
wait, on page 21, did he break his neck? No one should be able to turn their head around like that and live
aha. This formula again. Young MC who has been in the army since 6 (really??) devoid of emotion, very stoic. Strongest in the lands. Has to hide his strength to blend in, a hawty prideful girl and the gentle peace-keeper. Now the short-haired quiet girl, possibly a childhood friend (or comrade) now onto the roads of jealousy and who gets to keep the MC longer per chapter.
Like a blend of Infinite Stratos & Absolute Duo maybe?
Not that I am that fussed. i will follow, looks alright. Still though they certainly are running out of ideas in the manga industry, particularly in the school/harem genre
Yes.
I wonder if he's this bored when fighting demons...
That is pretty much the same as the bunch of Infinity stratus like series that flooded the market at the last part of last year?
The two negatives I saw on that list being tsundere and flat chest, the rest I have zero issue with (especially sexy mature ladies, why would that ever be a negative?)
>MC is the strongest despite being a highschooler
>has to attend a battle academy while hiding his true power
>meets a flat chested tsundere/big breasted girl on his first day who are both the strongest first years
>head of the school is a sexy mature lady
>fights the tsundere shortly afterwards and easily defeats her
>tsundere then gains respect for the MC
This premise seems REALLY familiar. The only thing missing is the MC walking in on the tsundere changing/bathing.
It was done way before Akashic Records as well, and I prefer male Kuuderes like this more.
Thongs are amazing! None will deny their majesty!
Now they call them Allu, the fin
It probably should have been Icicle Sword.
No, he's just copying bastard instructor toe-to-toe.
Also a plus, Akashic Records of Bastard Instructor isn't an isekai and the schoolgirls wear thongs to school.
I love it, he's breaking most of the dumbass mc conventions.
Man, the MC just has zero fucks to give.
You're confused because we didn't mention that manga is a Japanese product marketed at the Japanese? I won't even pretend to know why the others didn't, but I'd assume because it's too obvious a fact.
I'm perfectly fine with more of these types of manga being created, in fact, I enjoy them and actually want more.
For the same reason televised debates happen when a decision has already been reached behind closed doors, I'd imagine.
Edit: I prefer comments out in the open to PMing anyway, and my memory is just as bad, so no worries.
Overused plots? Sure. Overused main character points? Sure. But if the Japanese are voting "yes" with their cash more of this will be created.
This does effectively nullify any argument that Bato.to is hosting it for financial gain. The staff here rarely uploads mangas and it is generally accepted as the duty/job of someone in the translating team, otherwise the BS that occurred with Bokugirl happens - someone gets demonized for "stealing" "stolen" copyright goods...
What I don't get is why people go onto mangas that they clearly won't like, either because of the.premise (isekai, for example) and then whine about it... Which I should really be posting and whining about in THAT thread, but I'm here now so... (Shutting up...)
P.s. because I have the memory of a twig, I will probably forget I posted this. Feel free to message me with hate/other if you feel so inclined.
hey this reminds me of Gun x Clover
