@Tio Alexander and everyone else anxious to know what happens next: Chapter 10 is halfway done. We expected to have everything ready for release as soon as the /ak/ people finished the first volume, but due to us being busy it'll take a bit longer, sorry about that. In any case, chapter 11 is already finished, so we'll release both at the same time.

Argh! This manga always ends in a cliffhanger. I can't wait for the next chapter!

@abqpesca : Actually I've heard there's a theory that the ancient inhabitants of Earth ever reach 60 billions. They have high-technology and they built floating city on the sea and even can build city in the undersea and underground.

Well, If that's true then it is super super overpopulation.

I don't see how China could have 3 billion people. The country is already overpopulated and there won't be enough food. And the Chinese government will not let up on the 1 child policy.

@Grim According to Baka-Tsuki, there are two people working on translating it. I wouldn't expect it to be done anytime soon though, since it's four proper door-stopper novels, rather than light novels.

This manga is amazing, but several years of manga-reading has made me quite paranoid about what will happen next. I hope it continues being this vanilla.

Also, LOL the Chinese. Putting the cart before the horse. But in reality i would doubt they would do anything of the sort since Japan is officially an ally of the US, and trying to conquer the Gate would start the Third World War.

The problem is that they don't know. There's the language gap first, also the JSDF has not meet a proper ambassador, only peasant population that can barely read and write so they don't have a proper grip of what's going on. So currently the JSDF is doing recon work in unknown territory. Plus there's the Empire that they don't known where is it, so they have to be extra careful in case they meet a Empire army...even tough in reality it has taken a passive attitude with scorched earth tactics.

If you suddenly won a lottery for millions of dollars, would you allow anyone who wanted a piece of it to have some or would you protect it and do what you want with it before allowing others to have a piece.

Aren't the JSDF suppose to be defense oriented and must be based in Japan? By going to another area and arming themselves for "protection" against men who uses sword they are also going against one of the policies that have been set in stone for the JSDF? And locking down and denying the UN entrance to the area is no where near "moderate" defense policy! But other wise love this and hope for more future installments.

Well, Japan can argue that since the gate is in their territory, they're defending themselves. Once they've gone trough the gate, nobody else can actually check if they're limiting themselves to taking actions to protect Japan or something else. For the time being, they've got free reign over the situation, and they're using this opportunity to check if the new world has resources valuable enough to keep it to themselves and anger their allies.

Same with the UN, but it will be likely the UN will send soon "strongly worded" letters to let their observers into the JSDF main force. If the new world is discovered to have the valuable resources Japan is looking for, it will be possible that Japan will take drastic measures to protect their findings.

For long time ago I always wanted this kind of story. This manga indeed awesome. I wish they make this story into anime, because we need moar of this!

@soranokira This is only a promotional manga after all, it's supposed to make you want to buy the novels.

This is actually a little weird at the start and feels cut off every chapter but it somehow flows really nicely and is pretty interesting and a nice read when read straight through. + the art isn't too horrible too. simple story, but well portrayed out IMO.

@lastverdance The fantasy world is considered a special district of Japan. ie it is considered part of Japan, so they're 'defending' it from the natives..
