That's, say, five years, so 1000 scores a year, so about 3 scores a day. You need, what, two hours? to write this (and I'm being quite optimist); that makes six hours a day. Don't you think that time would have been better employed practicing?

No, that's what the senior conductor thinks, but he's wrong, the mc can't read a score. (And I don't think he could have told the musicians who had to start playing, not being able to read a score.)

and it's still amazing because he's probably ignoring what he hears being played (exept from the beginning) calculated the lag and then started playing. something like this:
1 starts with A ---------->2sec later on other side------------> 2 hears A
1 play B ---------->again 2sec later ---------> 2 hears B but is playing C already
1 hears C and plays C as wel ----------> again 2sec -----------> 2 hears C but is already playing D
And so it continues.

I wondered about that, but the score might just be there for clarifying the explanation, or "showing" the music. That part is not clear.

Imagine they are not people playing music but speaking instead.

If they already know the music, it's like reading a book aloud, with someone else reading it too, but two sentences ahead. If you can concentrate on your book, you don't have to make complicated calculations, just know when to start and then read what's written. Moreover, musicians are used to having other instruments playing a different part at the same time (or the same part at a different time).

1) If Trumpet is the one who started playing, 'cause Sax stopped to get to where he was, and then, seeing Trumpet playing, started playing again (which I thought at first), then Sax follows Trumpet and Trumpet just has to play like he's alone. Really easy.

2) If Sax is the one who started playing (if he didn't stop after that part to catch Trumpet's attention), it will be tricky indeed to know when to jump in. But once you've started at the right place, it's easy, just play.

But really tricky to know when to start. I thought it was case 1); if it's case 2), that is awesome, you're right. He has to know the distance between them and how much would be played in four seconds (which is near impossible; when you play, you don't keep track of the seconds (hey, can you count four seconds now? As for me, I can't, I need my watch), but of the tempo of the music; except in the rare cases when it's the same, then you can do it)

That part with the river between them: let's say the river is 700 meters wide. Sound travels at 340 meters/second. So when Trumpet plays, Sax only hears him two seconds later. So for them to play together, Trumpet must play two seconds earlier (and he hears what Sax played "at the same time" four whole seconds later). He doesn't delay his sound, he makes it in advance. He's not a genius, he's an esper that can predict the future. That's if what they play is improvised, and Trumpet doesn't know what Sax will play.

If it's based off a known music, he just has to play like he wants and the other one will follow, so it's quite easy, except that what Trumpet hears would be kind of like a canon. Nothing amazing.

And the chapter with Trumpet's dad. They never ever played together, but everybody still plays perfectly (what are rehearsals for, then?), and the mc can communicate with them through eye contact (even though they never played together and have known each other for two days)? That's telepathy at that level.

And doesn't anybody mind (amongst the listeners, not the players) that he shouts while they play? I would find that rather disturbing.

I'll let all the rest slide, let's say the mc is very good at music and secretly listened to and watched classical concerts when he was a kid so he'd know the bases of conducting, even though he hasn't got any formal education about it, and he knew all the music pieces they played beforehand, since they seem pretty famous, and the musicians know very well what they play, so they don't really need his help.

Well, actually, no. It's pretty funny to rant like that:

Because how you move the baton is not something you can guess, and it changes from piece to piece (though if the musicians know the piece well they don't really need a conductor to begin with, save for the start, but then what's the point in having him conduct? Actually, yes, what's the point in having somebody conduct once an orchestra used to another conductor? It doesn't mean anything about his abilities. A conductor's abilities don't show in how he behaves during a concert but in how he trains the musicians beforehand). How to make the musicians start is also something that's got rules to it. Directing is a language you share with the musicians, it's something codified, you can't just guess it. Especially if it's your first time directing these ones.

And in most pieces there are quite sharp changes of rythm you have to know of beforehand if you want to conduct (so either you read the music sheet or you knew the music).

For the part with Trumpet's dad, to know when to shift who plays what part, you have to know who plays what part; that's not usually something you can hear just listening to the music (especially if the different parts were played with several of the same instrument when he heard it before), so he has to have read the music sheet, or have rehearsed (neither of which seem to have happened).

And about the time when the mc conducted the (elite) musicians from the other school. They had been working on it for weeks, and then they tell the musicians from the mc's school to come and play too? And they're supposed to do as well as them when it's their first time playing this? It would have been ok with at least a "can you play this?" "Yeah, we worked on it last year", but there's nothing.
