I don't know how to feel right now; at first I see Kou has many rivals, yet I am the type that hates when a rival steals the girl away from the MC. Hmm this is tricky since for some crazy reason I am fine with Meguru getting stolen by the Hunk or the old childhood neighbor.

This is ridiculous at this point in the manga. . . but maybe it's sister time then! Best girl.

Since we're only about 2-3 chapters left anyways, I think I might as well just share my thoughts and experiences:

So this was my first time proofreading manga and it's definitely been a ride. Reading back on it now the first few chapters were really rough. I hope y'all liked my PR, I tried my best to improve! 
PUNS AND PRONOUNS ARE THE WORST, UGH.

Anyways, I was really enthusiastic about this at first. It seemed like interesting schlock at first but with each passing week I started to dread the day I would have proofread (probably related to a few long stretches of no new chapters but shhh).

And no, it's not because of the rough nature of the original script which I have to read at least twice; I knew what I was getting into because I applied as a PR when one of my comfy mangas suddenly became shit. (don't tell jack, I want to continue proofreading).

 

Both protags are horrible, and most, if not all, key scenes are not properly done (looking at you bully-girl-redemption-from-the-past "arc." There was no tension, no relief, and there was NO CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT WHAT THE HELL.)
Also, seriously, why are you introducing a new character in the last few chapters. Mangaka-san you bakka.

Anyways some keypoints because I suck at writing:

1 - Your side-characters are hella more interesting than the MCs, at least give them more screentime and development.

2 - Actually develop your characters??

3 - Again, new character this late in? What?

4 - I had more thoughts on this but I just kinda forgot as I was writing this

5 - If anyone actually bothers to count how many times I've repeated myself they get to choose what manga we translate next. Ask Jack.

 

Man, I had some actual structured thoughts on this then they all disappeared as soon as I started writing. whoops.

That's the shitty part about translating from Japanese to English - you can't avoid using pronouns, and there are often cases where the one used in translation turns out to be the wrong one in a few chapters. Obviously not the fault of the translator, rather the language, obviously.

I can imagine it getting just as annoying in the other direction.  There are cases in English dialogue where a pronoun becomes significant ("Wait, did you say 'he'?  Wasn't that a girl?" etc) and yet normally there just wouldn't be a pronoun in a Japanese rendering and so what would you do to make it make sense?

Bah. That's a non-issue. The faction, and IMO the rationale, in favour of not using honorifics is marginal.
