scanlation has picked up speed and cute chapter.

oooooh soo cuuute

Beautiful with every chapters.

Can't wait if the next year will come.

I like to think that Amanchu and Aria are at the same timeline with Amanchu being based on Man-home and Aria on Mars. Started having this thought when I saw Akari(?) on the poster on chapter 6 page 4 and am further convinced by the futuristic diving gear.

However, since it's kind of implied in Aria that people cannot swim in Man-home's oceans I may be entirely wrong.

Yup, Amanchu is set in a "Twenty Minutes into the Future" type setting, mostly grounded in the present, with only a few exceptions. Meanwhile, Aria is set hundreds of years into the future, with at least 150 years since the start of the terraforming process that melted the polar caps, plus an Earth that has badly polluted sky and oceans.

The fact that Aria cameos (in the form of posters and such) appear here, actually does more to rule them out as sharing the same timeline.

We yuri-lovers are being trolled soooo hard.

Spoiler

THE DREAM IS REAL. GO FORTH, NOW, AND CALL BACK ALL SHIPPERS. I kid, I kid, but it really does make me remember starting this manga back when I was into yuri/shoujo ai.

P.s. A-Alicia-san, what are you doing here..!?

A-am I dreaming?
Amanchu gotten a chapter scanlated for every week now?
A-all my yes!

You know Amanchu is getting an anime adaptation, right?

I only have one thing to say:

Spoiler

Finally, I've reached chapter 39... is there really such futuristic-looking diving equipment these days? It's amazing, but also feels like it would take away from the romantic appeal of it all... and it suddenly feels like I'm reading a sci-fi manga, even more than Aria...

Though it'd seriously blow my mind if there actually would be a chapter in the future where the Amanchu crew gets to meet with the Aria crew.

For recreational diving the equipment hasn't changed much except for refinement of material and the use of digital dive computers. I stopped diving for 15 years, then jumped back with no issue after a quick familiarization course.

In fact my diving buddy had all sorts of breathing and buoyancy issues ( just like Futuba did) during our dives that I later found out was because she got her diving license from a 'touristy' dive shop in Thailand and was taught incorrect techniques.

So what you saw in Chapter 39/40 is actually the mangaka's own invention (some things like the headband/mask rig could actually be dangerous in real life)

On the other hand, there are now more sports divers who do specialised dives like caving and deep dives, so you can actually get rebreathing and mix-gas systems without needing a professional license.

Rereading chapter 23 after reading Aria is such a trip. Aika? Akari!? It really made it feel like a sweet reunion, even for me as a reader.. and parting, such sweet sorrow. I wonder if they'll get the Aria VAs to voice them for the anime?

Ah, I also want to know how chapter 26 will be in the anime... will they really manage to get rights to Rocky's theme? That would be pretty cool... hahaha.

Chapter 31 reminded me a lot of that one chapter when Akari says goodbye to her old gondola... ah, I have to stop.

3 chapters and it got me hooked

I loved Sensei's speech on the first day of school

Hey there! Thanks for the notice about the order mix-up! It is now fixed and hopefully there isn't any other technical errors.

But anyways, thank you for the support and information~

No problem. I'm usually not pedantic about manga translations, especially those that have undergone multiple language translations (Salty Road is Japanese to Indonesian to English).

In this case the mistake (whether from the original Japanese or during the Chinese trans) was pretty obvious for a scuba diver as "What's in the tank, oxygen?" is a very common question from junior woodchuck divers taking their first pre-dive classroom lesson (it's like getting a driving license, you gotta get some theory in before they even let you try the gear in a pool).

I do enjoy the mangaka's work, thanks for bringing Amanchu back from hiatus.

Hi Thina & Katsu,

Thanks for the scan. Please note that no-one goes scuba diving with pure oxygen. It becomes toxic under pressure at around 10 metres (33 feet). Recreational scuba diving uses compressed air (I'm not sure if the mangaka actually used the Japanese term for 'oxygen')

Page 68 is also out of order.

As for the translation, this chapter was a second hand translation (meaning TL'd from chinese to english) and the lack of knowledge in scuba diving contributed to the minor translation mix-up, but thank you for pointing it out and we will take in further details regarding scuba diving next time!

(Even though, they're not exactly similar, we did say compressed oxygen, so plus 1/2 credit? :D?)

Hmm.  I tried to edit my previous comment, which then disappeared.  As soon as I started writing another, it appeared again.  Curiouser and curiouser.

It was a lovely chapter, and pure Amano-Sensei.  Made an annoying day much better.  Thanks, Cafe Scanlation.  (I did miss my Pikari fix, though.)

Hmm ... yet another lovely chapter!

Once again Amano Kozue shows us what makes her so unique as a mangaka author and artist.

Just plain ... beautiful.

[sighs happily]

I really, really, really love Amano Kozue's art and storytelling....

It really is like a breath of fresh air with every chapter of hers I get to read (or re-read!).
