it'd be an excellent opportunity to ask her out, just like whenever friendzoned guys hear bullshit from girls like "I don't understand why you don't have a girlfriend" (well, how about you date me? "blahblah no blahblah", see? thats exactly why i don't), but would probably have a similar success rate, eg 0.
Nah... I like how Kawai's just there, probably madly in love with her, but understands her to the point that he knows. He knows, that Ayako will NEVER get a boyfried, unless he jumps at her, since she's so awkward.
So there he is, biding his time, letting her worry over it and sort her life out with miniscule pushes from him.
