So, to let you all know, LOLScans will no longer be releasing on bato.to.
All of our projects will continue to be released on our own site - we're going independent.
I know it may be a bit of an inconvenience for you, but you could just add a bookmark and go to that every Sunday(-ish). 108 is already up. The next release should be this weekend.
The website is: www.lolscans.com
Have a nice day, y'all.
We didn't have any German speakers working on this one, so I'm gonna have to blame the French Raws we used, which we copied the German text from verbatim.
As for the sword, I decided to leave the PR's comment in because I found it amusing especially with the guy's expression; without context it just looks like he brought a random sword with him all the way from Japan xD
wow, it went from 0 to 100 in like 2 pages
Also, why is the scanlator musing about the sword? I thought all officers had these.
Sooo ... anthropomorphized battle ships, basically? What the shit, Japan? Where does it end? Is sexually identifying as a Yorktown-class aircraft carrier an actual thing over there then?
Also, inb4 the death of Hitler leads to the German supreme command making the Third Reich get its shit together, leading to a less than total surrender (and thus them continuation/cover-up the Holocaust).
Cool. I guess that settles it then.

Basically the best thing since sliced bread!
In 1942 Japan still had a functioning industrial backbone and good access to resources from their occupied lands. Germany on the other hand was getting bogged down on all fronts, not to mention getting bombed to bits after they lost the Battle of Britain. The idea was for Germany to share their technology to Japan to allow Japan to build their own hi-tech war machines and win the war in the Pacific, relieving the Axis in Europe. Germany also had some of their gold transferred to Japan for safekeeping. Several missions by submarine successfully concluded the transfers, but the attempts to do this by air transportation failed.
If you're into the shipgirl genre, Ark Performance's Arpeggio of Blue Steel is actually an inverted retelling of the I-8's mission to Germany set in a sci-fi future with the target destination being the USA instead of Germany and Japan (instead of Germany) sending the technology to the US (instead of Japan) for production. The failed air transportation scheme we see in Zipang is represented by Japan's failed SSTO launch that started the Arpeggio manga.
And of course, Kancolle's I-8 speaks (a tiny little bit of) German thanks to her mission, and this is also how U-511 and Luigi Torelli ended up in Japan.
What are they scheming..going to germany.. are they going to assassinate Hitler and the Nazi party knowing what future awaits them, and then ask for pardon and favorable condition to the allies...i dont think its easy like that...if they want to change the future...why not they just continue there Nuclear program knowing it will succeed cuz they now know america did it..and getting a huge bargaining chip in there conditions.
Yes. Naval turbines are actually VERY resilient to fuel changes. You just have to reset the filter and fuel/air mix and it's very easy to do with modern gas turbines. I build power plants and our civilian gas turbines are basically flex-fuel. We've changed from high-speed diesel to marine fuel oil to kerosene to who knows what and we're doing fine. Military-grade turbines should be much more resilient than ours.
You won`t get a "100% sure" answer unless a naval/aviation expert is around here, so let me go how I imagined it: diesel/kerosene is still diesel/kerosene. Likely with lower octane number at that age and it might cause problems in the long run, but there shouldn't be issues in the short and mid term.
That as a rationale works for me and I decided not to dig deeper.
And their modern ship could run on that old stuff no problem?
they have limited diesel production at this era beside high quality crude oil.
I know that they refueled in the manga. I am questioning them having the kind of fuel that would be required for the Mirai back in the 1940s.
If it's fuel, they were supplied with it by Japanese Imperial Navy, if it's ammo it's decreasing. Same goes for ship's durability.
So ... I guess they chose to ignore that issue? Or am I to believe that their ship can run on the kind of kerosene they had lying around back then?
Darn toot’n!!!
Having just started reading this manga, I wonder how they will address the issue of resupplies. Their modern equipment might be fancy and all but not worth very much after its required resources run out (specialized fuel, ammunition etc.).
Also:
I've reuploaded Chapter 93. Hopefully it will work now
Is it just me or is Chapter 93 'Resistance', all fugged up? No pages load...
Well, there's "Oh My Goddess", at 31 volumes (195 chapters), "Mahou Sensei Negima", which was cut short at 38 volumes (355 chapters).
This particular mangaka is currently publishing a medieval version of Zipang, which is at 19 volumes right now, and a story about Japan suddenly rising to the challenge of China's new aircraft carrier. That series is at seven volumes so far.
There's no way he could output all that himself, so I suppose he has a staff to help him. Especially since he is 69 years old now. He's been putting out manga since 1982.
Awwwww <3 Also, ANOTHER VOLUME FINISHED!!! EHEHEHE
More next week, hopefully~
I may be dead by then, but who's counting? Sufficient for now that the scanlation is moving along once more.
My god, i'm probably gonna be married before this project is finished.
A shame there aren't really many manga these days that reach such a length.
Wanting to get the final chapter count, I just now opened up volume 43 and looked through to the last chapter. Without going to the trouble of actually translating it properly, I can only say it reminds me of the end of the movie, "The Final Countdown". I won't say why, as that would be a spoiler.
BTW, that was chapter 423.
