I think it's pretty definitive that Yan used to like Riko, there are these panels about him tutoring her back in their elementary school days and he is visibly frustrated at how easily she fell in love with every guy she met.

Not helping matters is the fact that Riko was likely his first friend, considering how he tends to push people away and tries to do everything by himself. Then again, this same page does imply he is over her by now. The series seems to be heading towards Maki x Yan nonstop.

I don't think he see her as more than one of his rarest (and closest) friend, but I admit it would be a plot twist if it's really more than that.

 

I mean, it's pretty clear that he truly care for her.

And a bit of explaination about Yan's strange reaction in the previous chapter. He is worried for Nagi, and for Riko because of her catastrophic love life.... So, did the SS Yan/Riko just sunked? And did the SS Yan/Nagi just appeared? =p
