Yes, although it's not much of a surprise when you think that the manga is just an advertisement for the light novels. Best thing now is to end it so people will go out and buy the novels to see how it ends. And it ends badly. But I'm not surprised considering the authors health issues and his need to finish what he started. The manga though has been somewhat changing things anyway, so not surprised they would make their own ending.
Just wish it had gotten through the Zero arc to get the last member of the harem.
