Description: | Takamura Uru takes her mother’s remarriage as an opportunity to strike out on her own and begin a part time job. Filled with the thought of “If only I could make someone happy…”, she begins working at Café Bohneur, a shop famous for cakes; but the employees, Ichirou-kun and Shindou-san, turn out to be incredibly unsociable. These two, though frightening at first glance, begin to change something inside of her. This is the start of a romance about Uru’s search for happiness. ========Batoto Staff Notice========== Unfortunately the comic (or parts of it) was scanlated by groups that don't allow rehosting. Completed this series last week. It's different from most shoujo, since the romance is a bit underwhelming, but the healing atmosphere and the positive sensation that comes from the characters is really soothing. My only complaint would be that turn to drama during the last two volumes or such, it comes as a bit melodramatic, and that the story could've been resolved a few volumes earlier than when the author decided to stop.
Anyways, Shindou is a treasure.
One of my favorites! I try to read it at least once a year~
I reread this after about a year and it's still one of my absolute favorites. Anyone who wants a funny and heart-warming read, that's actually a well-put-together story with good art and real characters should read this. The mangaka can write real humor, and at the same time excellent drama and very touching pathos. Fives stars out of five from me! I'd also love it if there were some omake type stories about some of the minor characters, especially the student council president and the boyish girl who climbs through windows for shortcuts.
