so did snow white just awaken the demon king?

Ok first of all, can we establish the point behind your argument? You've implied that Western protagonists don't have these traits, then said it's ok for them to have these traits anyways, then you pointed out that harem mangas are softcore porn when the original poster was complaining about the LACK of explicit sexual contact in these mangas.

Now, as for examples, Walking Dead, Person of Interest, The Mentalist, Bioshock Infinite, Silent Hill, Dead Space, The Darkness, Castlevania (for fairly recent, popular, dead love interests), Die Hard, Every Spiderman film, Ass Creed Revelations, Infamous, Dragon Age 2, Baldur's Gate 2, The Force Unleashed 2, Kingdom Hearts 2 (for twice the kidnapping in one scenario), Red Dead Redemption (for Kidnapping)and you've already stated that communication issues and 'will-they-won't-they' are commonly accepted since Shakespearian times.

You do raise a point though, that he was probably talking about harem protagonists specifically and that my ire and generalization of Western media is probably unwarranted, as I am pooling from a variety of genre, and the harem genre is nearly non-existent in the West (save for elimination types like The Bachelor), meaning that it's unfair for me to compare them. At the same time, comparing them at all is rather meaningless as the societies are different, and the genres popular are also different. Eastern cultures have a background in polygamy which contrasts with the 'don't stand out' mindset inherent in Japanese society, whereas Western cultures embrace individuality more often, but have their roots in a monogamous environment.

TL:DR Comparing Western protagonists/genres to Japanese ones is pointless as they are fundamentally different genres, raised with different social acceptances and expectations, with different forms of social interaction.

WTF does any of that have to with manga? Just like your previous statement was nonsense so does this one follow suit as well.

It ends at chapter 14. From what I have read on another site the author rushed the ending. So who knows how good the ending is going to be.

Son of a bitch.

crap another one of my follows gets axed ~_~;

Or maybe it was axed :)

Maybe deus ex machina ending.

Though I still see it as good thing when manga with annoying protagonist that always need to be saved by his harem is axed.

Where'd you see that? According to mangaupdates it's still ongoing...?

i dunno why but seeing him lose control and that girl appearing reminded me of shinji ikari, yui ikari and unit 01 from NGE.

...Huh, I can't believe it took me this long for me to figure out Ibara was based on Sleeping Beauty.  I thought she was based off of that one from "The Princess and the Pea" since she was a princess with sleeping problems caused by a plant.  Man I'm embarrassed.

HELL YEAH!!!

He's going all Alucard on their arses!!!!!

Should give some good examples of this in western media. Kidnapping is certainly not common, and dying for plot is fine??? None of what you said is a prevalent cliche. Will they wont they is only a cliche in sitcoms. Communication issues is a classic from ancient myths to shakespear, not only in western cultue is communication problems a part of romance. Romance globally has things about young lovers having trouble conveying their feelings. No need to get all defensive just because a dude is pointing out that harem mangas are softcore porn.

The series is ongoing, saw latest chapter in last magazine issue, the group is behind but manga is ongoing with force

It's finally time he showed more of his power. I'm glad he went out of control. That girl that appeared is probably his rightful wife. That would be awesome if she is.

...It looks like this series got axed.

Iunno. Why are Western protagonists unable to hold a relationship that doesn't involve 'will-they-won't-they', severe communication issues, kidnapping, or one of them dying for the plot?

things took a sudden turn indeed.

Why are Japanese protaginists never able to take advantage of the beautiful ladies (sometimes literally) throwing themselves as them?
