Yuki to Sumi

Alt Names: alt ユキトスミalt Snow and Ink
Author: Onio
Artist: Onio
Genres: Comedy ComedyRomance RomanceSchool Life School LifeShounen Shounen
Type: Manga (Japanese)
Status: Ongoing
Description: Yukino Tachibana is a calligraphy prodigy.
At the tender age of 16 she is already one of Japan's most exciting young artists, performing live calligraphy demonstrations to sell-out crowds on worldwide tours.
With her refined, beautiful, and mysterious air, she is so popular at her new high school that she has earned the appellation of 'The School Madonna'.

She is also as dumb as a post.

As artful her brushstrokes, as demure her outward demeanor, the real Yukino Tachibana is far-removed from the image her classmates see on television and in the school hallways - in reality, apart from her calligraphy genius, Yukino is completely useless, rude, and possessing of a distinctly inflated sense of self-worth.
There is only one classmate who fails to be fooled by her facade: run-of-the-mill protagonist du jour Tarou Nakamura. Sitting next to her in class, Nakamura doesn't really get why the rest of the school finds her so enthralling - he's much more interested in his crush, Amano-san. But this indifference might prove to be his downfall, as circumstances cause Yukino to set her eyes on him....

This boy, this poor, poor boy, is burdened with a Herculean task - to keep Yukino's true nature a secret from the rest of the school, while trying to win the heart of his sweeheart. Can Nakamura really keep this brainless beauty's utter idiocy a secret!? And can he win Amano's heart through the power of calligraphy at the same time!?

Wazawahi,  the grim spectre clawing at Onio's heels and making all his manga fail here.

The remaining chapters of this poor, gone-before-its-time manga are being worked on. However, after the death of Batoto I have no plans yet for similar a distribution site to upload to. For now new chapters will be uploaded to my archive here, linked on my blog here, and shilled on my twitter here.

Maybe Futari no Jikan won't get axed ;_;

A lot of good mangas had been concluded recently, some mangas are axed, some are looking for alternate hosting sites, and some we may never find again anywhere after batoto closed. This is depressing. Anyway, thanks, Wazawahi for contribution.

I Havent Read ch 5-7 for a while Since i wanna save my bookmark as much as posibble
And News Below me make sad even more, REALLY JAPANESE READERS???
Rough Sketch Senpai and Yuki to Sumi Certificated "FRESH" From us here,
.
And BAM!!! I AM A MIGHTY AXE MADAFAKA!!!!

I hate Japan.

Man, first Batoto then I read about this being axed such a shitty week

how the hell does this get axed? :/

Sometimes i dont understand the tastes of the people in Japan

You know, everyone knows that Japanese people are only into extreme ecchi and harem genre, and when presented with a different premise, like this one, they tend to ignore it.

Technically, this and Sketch Senpai got axed before batoto announced going down.

But yeah, it's fucking bullshit. Especially since author was probably happy about having started doing second volume and they didn't even let him finish it...

Is there going to be a different website where this will be posted once Batoto shuts down? There's only a few chapters left of this series that got cut tragically short, and I'm curious to see if it got an ending whatsoever, or if it was axed too suddenly

the problem lays with the japanese consumer sof mangas.

If it doesn't sell well enough + doesn't get alot of rateing comments.

It's going to get axed ... if the company has an backlog of stuff they can try out.

It's commerce.

I loved this manga. And will buy it when it comes out as single vol here.

But japanese consumers want either:

- fanservice heavy

- isekai shit (the shitty kind)

- good isekai (like overlord or Adleramin ... sometimes)

- Ecchi and more ecchi

- Stuff like Dragonball/ One Piece or Bleach  ( shonen fight troupe)

There's already alot of manga similar to this one.

Which have alot of fanservice too ... and a bigger following.

So they axed it prematurely xD.

Still thinking about makeing an Kickstarter to fund an non-profit organization ... which would work with donations and subscriptions to fund authors like these. It's hillarious how cheap it is to buy a manga volume of an begginer author ...  i had a long talk with some a few years ago.

And most often then not ... they agree to horrendous contracts. Which they get stuck with ... a lloooonnngg time. If they're sucessfull.

It's time to fuck  these big companys ...

First batoto is going down now this series gets axed while so many bad ones go on forever. This week sucks. What's wrong with the japanese taste in manga?

I noticed something when i watched the raws of the other two works of Onio, all the girls wear the same uniform. Maybe all those stories happen in the same school and in the big picture all this goes in the Musunde Hiraite vein: short stories with a good ending.

They are all in the same school:

Spoiler

Although in regards to the "short" stories, it's not because they were meant to be short but because they got axed. I'm glad the author manages to give them good endings, but they definitely had the potential to go for much longer than they did. Blame the industry and the voting readers. I feel bad for the author, I love their style.

Well won't be going on for too long seeing as the series got axed.

She is not really a tsundere in my opinion. This girl is just an idiot.

Taiga got likable soon enough in toradora(atleast in the anime). I sense this trope of her abusing him going on for a while....

Amano best girl.

am i the only one who really dislikes the female lead

shes constantly rude, abusive and arrogant towards the MC, yet still expects him to help her out whenever she likes

and then she shows a bit of sweetness and all is supposed to be forgiven? this is toradora all over again

This is how tsunderes work in general.  It's the "cuteness above all else" idea that pervades japanese culture that makes this sell very well, even though tsunderes, to this scale, make for very unrealistic partners in terms of relationships and courting.

This is good :3.

I like the romance setting in this one.

Do these kind of classes exist, where people are scorned for interacting with the popular ones? I always thought people were people, and that while the ones who abuse others do deserve scorn the rest are so wonderfully interesting.

no

this kinda shows a little bit of ignorance on the author's part

usually if someone is popular, people will flock to them and interact with, then scorn anyone trying to approach their group to get close to that person. works on jealousy.

the author is basically outing himself on never having that kind of interaction, he just invented this situation

if you want to see a proper "don't talk to <popular guy/girl>" read Ao to Flag, notice the way girls want Touma for themselves

I hate this. i absolutely hate this stupid fucking trope where 'no one can approach or talk to the famous/pretty classmate'.

fuck this manga.

forever.

Course not. It's all for comedic effect

I don't think you quite understand why I hate Tachibana so much.

I don't have a problem with the rude behaviour, and I generally don't mind tsunderes. Tachibana, however, is not only a complete asshole, but completely entitled as well, and constantly shoves our poor MC under the bus to save her own skin. Due to this, he not only has to suffer abuse from her, but from everyone else around him. I don't even think this counts as tsundere anymore. Tachibana doesn't even like MC-man (sorry I can't remember your name, my dude), she's not trying to hide anything. She's just being a pompous, entitled cunt to a person that's actively HELPING her with her problems.

Like I said, it's Toradora all over again.
