Even if they think that the prophecy can be changed, they are complete retards to do things which can help the prophecy to happen. Just provoking the girl while doing nothing is the dumber thing you can do.- you can help her to be gentle - you can kill her by yourself or with the help of an assassin (they kill the father and beat down the brother, so it's not like they doesn't want to) - you can try to pass the law to kill her WITHOUT provoking her. - other things you can think of during the many years. The drawing is good, but the fact that the antagonists are this dumb make the story bad. Like the fact that she can't communicate with her brother... She can ONLY not talk (and even that, it's just like she talked another language because her talking is structured), there is lots of others means to communicate but nooooooo they never used sign or writing. It's like he never ever tried to communicate with her. And the girl can think and hear fine but she doesn't understand that killing animals for his brother is useless because it makes him angry AND he doesn't eat the animal. No need to be a genius to understand after a few days/weeks/years that it's useless. Dumb main characters, dumb antagonists... The universe seems good but it need a major rework on the story...

 I think the reason they've only now tried communication through writing is because Nayuta isn't going through any education. In page 50 the brother says that she has been reading to learn how to write. And since the brother is barely supporting the two of them through working low-paying jobs, he probably doesn't have enough money to feed her and give her an education at the same time. Plus you have to take into account that she's a child and has to deal with the thousands of characters that come with the Japanese language. And she's learning the language not through textbooks, but through exposure of it's practical use. As for sign language, the only possible means through which they could learn it is from a book. The brother is probably too poor to afford a teacher or the internet so that's their only avenue. But it's likely that the books that they have in their collection were bought by their late parents who probably had no use for a book about JSL (Japanese Sign Language). That only leaves the method of coming up with their own form of communication. But I don't think this is possible for them either. The brother's education is unfinished so I doubt he'll be able to come up with a method. And the stress of everything that's happening to him probably has him more worried about not leaving his sister starving at night rather than effectively communicating with her

Now onto the problem of her continuing on killing even though it "evidently" makes her brother angry. If you look at page 16, you'll see that when he asks her to her right arm, she raises her left. This shows us that her brother's words are slightly warped in her perspective. And when you say that her efforts are useless and even the dumbest of people would give up, are you saying that she should just let her brother, who would go to the ends of the earth for her, starve? She clearly wants to repay her brother and children can be awfully persistent about things.

 

I do however agree with your criticisms that the crowd is dumb and I grow quite tired of the  stupid protesters trope. But I don't think that minor problem is enough to detract from the over all experience and I still found this a great read.

Isn't it human to struggle against fate? Besides, it is never made clear in the one-shot that such prophecies are indeed fated rather than mere possibilities. Plus, there are many that believe that fate can be changed.Not to defend their actions of attempting to kill the child. I personally believe that if they believed the prophecy, then they should merely adopt a practice of keeping her under close guard.

I'm 100% certain that if she does actually destroy the world, it'll be because the prophecy was self-fulfilling. Like somebody tries to kill her and ends up killing her brother instead, which is what makes her snap.

Author has an obvious imouto fetish but this is a cool imouto. Retarded deformed sociopath magical yan/goudere imouto is a good archetype.
