Description: Arisue Sei lived as happily as any normal kid would, just him and his mother -- a particularly private woman -- on an outlying island of Okinawa. There were also his friends Toichi and Moichi. The only unusual things about Sei were his sharp instincts and high intelligence. But everything changed when his mother was killed and he was kidnapped by the people of Neo Genesis. Now, six years after the kidnapping, Arisue Sei has returned to Japan with the title of "Doctor" at only the age of 18, and he's not the Sei that his friends remember. There are bodyguards with him who protect him from others who wish to possess his superb intellect. He says he's come back to assist with the research at Rakuhoku University, where Moichi now works, but here is where the door to Sei's secrets just begins to open...

In 2002 Yasha series received the 47th annual Shogakukan Manga Award for shoujo.

That was worth the wait and time!

Thank you so much Megchan's Scanlations for all your hard work!

so far, i'm liking this better than banana fish. there seems to be more of a... point to it. banana fish played around with something like suspense for too long in its beginning, to the point where i had absolutely no idea what the characters were doing or why. yasha tells you what its story is about much earlier on, something i appreciate. banana fish did a spectacular job of totally not doing that at all.

there's also a more solid sense of character in yasha. i wouldn't say banana fish was totally lacking in that regard, but rei is more defined in action and thought than ash and certainly more compelling as a protagonist. there is also a more solid sense of place--which makes sense, given banana fish was set in some vague version of new york, while the majority of yasha is in japan, a place the author is likely a little more familiar with.

the works are similar, but this one seems to resonate with me more. i'm excited to see how the story progresses, especially if it will not take the same route as banana fish.

Never say "Good-bye" Sei!!

Even with the next step of human evolution, a human is a human with emotions. He's strugglin'......

too many yaoi vibes...i'm out of here. =P

I actually like this quite a lot. It really reminds me of Banana Fish, Yoshida Akimi most known work (as far as I know). I have no idea of how scientifically accurate this is, but at least everything sounds good. Anyways, I enjoy this whole drama with Sei's brother and all. And Sei's personality is interesting and believable, making this read worth my while. I hope this turns out as good as Banana Fish! Thanks to Megchan's Scanlations for the great job they do :) Please keep at it!

I hope the following sentence is not a spoiler for you or anyone who read this manga but just in case xD

Spoiler

Why isn't this more popular? This is why sometimes I feel like I should lose my faith in humanity...

There was a drama adaptation. Or maybe it was a movie...

Drama adaption but I don't really like the drama.

sometiime i want to filp a table or close to it. reading find out that he looks like someone and has a brother makes me have that feel or the urge to do so.
Because it was first published in a shoujo mag, and then in a josei mag, that's why.
If it won the Shogakukan Manga Award for Shoujo...why's it listed under Josei?
