or possibly they tired converting it to pounds or dollars and miscommunication happened. 110000 pound or dollar debt is not a something to sneeze at.

Well isn't he actually paying the debt by working as a detecting like " you ll have to pay for what you father own us so work for us to do so " .

110000 yen isn't that much, you would just need about 1-2 month with part-time job to pay up. Why would he become a "detective" just for this sum. That's certainly not realistic. There is at least another reason.
