Description: When high school student Akio Asakura loses a high speed race to a Porsche 911 Turbo known as “Blackbird,” he goes to a junkyard to find parts for his car – only to discover a blue first-generation Datsun Fairlady Z (S30), which he buys. Akio later discovers that not only is the Z tuned to 620 bhp, it’s had a dark history of unfortunate accidents with its previous owners. Making matters more complicated is the fact that the last owner shared the same name with Akio. With the “Devil Z,” Akio forms a new rivalry with the Blackbird and its driver Tatsuya Shima.

Just found out about this series, but as soon as I come to check if it's finished being translated, my hopes were shot down. Maybe somebody could pick it up at some point.

If initial D is shounen on wheels,then wangan midnight can be called seinen on wheels. I watched all seasons of Initial D right before I got my license,and wangan midnight half a year later. Today(a few years later) I think, that WM is closer to a real driver, and those feelings of "loneliness on the road" are something that many of us have when we lose our "drive" after a few years on wheels.
