LOL KOUKI!! Really loves how it ends

Pretty much. The incest ending came out of nowhere with almost no foreshadowing. If it had been build up to better i wouldn't have had problems with it. But i pretty much hated the entire second half anyways, Daikichi learning to take care of a child was much more interesting than generic highschool stuff.

It had plenty of foreshadowing, you two just ignored the precedence that came from Rin's mother going out with the old man which allowed the author to somewhat handwave the 'justification' behind Daikichi and Rin getting together as 'shit happens as you go through life yo'. Flimsy, but works in literature well enough.

I'm not saying that the incest ending was particularly good or that the non-incest ending would have been bad, but there's really no reason to be mad over something that's not waterproof but has been used in every other SoL-romance series.

Hmmmm interesting take

That's not why I had a problem with the ending. From the beginning, I was led to believe that this series was a cute father-daughter story. It didn't matter to me if Daikichi got with Kouki's mother or if Rin got with Kouki. I guess I felt cheated because I saw how Daikichi took care of her and thought of her as a daughter. However, because Rin says she loves him as a man, I have to believe Daikichi loves her as a woman? How is it possible to believe he can love her romantically while for most of the time they spent together he saw her as family?

I read it from start to end as well. Maybe I missed something or wasn't paying attention, but I can't see how the end made sense.

Damn you Kouki!

At the same time, the end was hilarious.

Sure, it didn't take the expected route where Daikichi marries Kouki's mother and Rin either ends up with Kouki or simply enjoys her life in nursing and childcare. But it was an ending that made a lot of sense.

Kouki: Throwing everyone off their groove even AFTER the series ends.

I'm trying really hard not to think about the ending. This is not helping!

I don't get why so many people have a problem with the original series ending. Sure, it didn't take the expected route where Daikichi marries Kouki's mother and Rin either ends up with Kouki or simply enjoys her life in nursing and childcare. But it was an ending that made a lot of sense. It fit the characters that had been built up to that point, and it really was a "happy ending". It was a little jumbled, a little messy, and a little hard to get a hold of. But hey, that was pretty much the entire series in a nutshell. A little jumbled, a little messy, a little hard to get a hold of, and definitely a little happy.

I personally really loved it, all the way to the end.

Damnit, that must hurt
