The rankings in the manga are started after chapter 8, but Jump knows the chapters rankings after a week and tell the author and editors. I'm sure after 4 or 5 weeks of being ranked at the bottom on the mail in cards they then decided this would be axed and in what issue. Keep in mind I'm basing this on what I remember from Bakuman, and it's been a while since I read that lol.

STOP USING BAKUMAN AS REFERENCE! Seriously, just read interviews with authors or editors, there are plenty of them on the Internet. There are tons of things which Bakuman simplified or ommited.

To guy saying that this manga was unpopular due to its art... you are saying this about WSJ in which OP runs... sure. U19 had no story, unlikable characters and infantile setting, even WSJ readers aren't THAT stupid.

In my opinion, the biggest flaw this manga has compared to BNHA and other popular Jump series is not its story, or setting, or character development, but rather it’s its art. At most, i can say that this manga has decent art, but decent is never enough for a competitive magazine like Jump. It has unique art style, but sadly it’s not good enough drawn to make you feel “Woah” or “awesome”.

Great arts make great scenes a hundred times better rather than a poorly drawn one. Let’s take Black Clover manga for example. It has a very simple shounen story, straight-laced, bam-bam-bam fight, MC always win, no death. What makes it sooo good that it stays true to its manga premise and it has great and unique art to top its story. I’m not saying that art is everything, but it’s difficult to run in Jump if you don't have good art to top your story unless you are running a gag manga.

OK... we are clearly not reading the same manga.

Pretty messed up that they left the rival to be tortured by their mortal enemies.

It really sucks if they really axed this. I just realized why i like this series. The MC reminds me of deku at the start of BNHA. A self sacrificing kid who will do anything to protect others and the people around him who sees and appreciates this trait of his. That scene with the morning star reminded me so much of that time in the entrance exam for UA deku punched that giant robot to save uraraka earning him the cheers and praise from all the staff members and teachers watching. Such a cool scene.

I see this as one of those unlucky manga that doesn't get the recognition it deserves. It's not the greatest manga I've ever seen, but it had potential in my opinion.

Well at least it had a more stable ending compared to alit of other works that meet the chopping block...

Mngghm. It really is a shame it ended like that.

What's more, it didn't even go past 19 chapters!

I guess this is a good direction for the plot to go if the author knew it was going to have a short run.

No one goes into Jump thinking they'll have a run under 1 year--this manga was just straight-up cancelled for being unpopular. Most people are aiming to be serialized for at least 5, only crazy people like the Death Note creators go in with a 2-year plot in mind.

Comedy manga where plot isn't really important (like kochikame) are literally just aiming for "however long I can last"

UNDER19 ENDING IN UNDER 19 CHAPTERS

MC and his rival developed a libido on the pretense of getting cucked lol

Hahaaaaa! I get it, cuz there's "under 19 chapters" ha ha ha it's funny right. Ha ha

well the start of the series was pretty weak (demon's plan level of weak start) and as the series was with other 6 series at the start, if it didn't get a good ranking at the start, the axe was inevitable :/ (even if it kind of got a lot better) ...

lesson, don't try to start in Jump with other 6 series except if your idea is super solid or is a gag manga (cause they kind of have another system xD... they don't get axed even if they don't have a good ranking)

lol i thought this was axed at chapter 2 when jaimini stopped scanlation...it was kinda dumb and cringy imo but i'd still read it...now I find out it's still ongoing and at the same timefind out it was axed...yup not going to bother trying to get back into it.

Given how the Weekly Shonen Jump ranking system works, it's literally impossible for a jump manga to get axed before chapter 8, and the soonest I've personally heard of is chapter 12: demon's plan, which was admittedly atrociously awful. I actually thought that Hitomi no Catoblepas was cancelled faster, but after looking back it turns out they made it to chapter 15. Also, holy shit Hitomi no Catoblepas was 10 years ago, why am I so old?!

3 chapters left. I hope cedditt picks up Poro to scanlate next, since it's ending was surprising.

But you do realize that rankings are made 8 chapters back? That means that after the 8th chapter he realized how low in the rankings his manga is.

More than likely he was told his manga was getting axed after the 3rd chapter. It started in dead last and wasn't moving an inch. But due to the fact they introduced 6 manga's almost back to back meant they had to limp along longer than usual with this, especially since Poro's Diaries and Hungry Marie were also on the chopping block and nothing to replace them with. This should have been done in fewer chapters, but since the author was allowed more time he's trying to do as much as possible.

A shame it got axed since the series is starting to get fun.

Yeah, it just got going too late. By the time this chapter was published, they were still collecting surveys from 3 weeks ago. I'm not surprised it got axed from Jump with that slow a start.

Broly?

A shame it got axed since the series is starting to get fun.

Because is trying to show too much too fast. It didn't get us invested on the characters, it didn't get us invested on the villains, and it's trying to progress the plot almost by force.

It almost feels as if the creator knew it would get axed, so he's trying to finish the story BEFORE he gets axed.

Not sure why this didn't do well. It's funny, has neat character designs, and the mains are all such bros.
