Absolutely fucking brilliant. Incredible.

READ THIS MASTERPIECE OF A TRAGEDY TILL THE LAST CHAPTER.
I beg of you, please.

I'm at chapter 24 and this protagonist annoys me to no end. He knows he's creepy, so why doesn't he do anything about it? Why is he being so nervous? Why does he have to be irritable and suspicious of everything and everyone?! Has he never read any mystery novels or something? I know the author's trying to keep it "realistic" with how he's playing with guilt, but come on-- we already know this guy's borderline psychotic. No need to disguise it with some placebo "guilt".

Indeed... it's a masterpeace. It's already on my top.

Mixed feelings.  He could of gotten out of everything and could of led an honest life.  The guy who took the blame really deserved it and the yakuza girl he killed really deserved it as she was scapegoating girls into prostitution.  I don't remember exactly but I think the other murdered girl was the one who gave the final blow and cut up the yakuza girl which freaked him out and led him to kill her.  Literally he is not a bad guy.  He tried to play hero of justice but it went wrong.  It is quite clear with all the stress and tension he went through no way he will commit such an act ever again.

I suggest you re-read the begining of the series because it seems you have mixed quite many facts.

Miroku was an incredibly selfish and uncaring person in the begining, the only reason he choose to kill the girl running the prostitution ring was to get money, in his thoughts you can see him trying to justify his actions as killing a "bad person" but it's clear as day he didn't really care.

Also the bullied girl didn't do a thing against her "leader", Miroku killed her in pure impulse by being disgusted at how warped the girl became and eliminating a witness, she thought he killed the female pimp to protect her and immediately threw himself at Miroku, the guy felt a sum of many dark emotions for he just killed someone, and killed another out of disgust and to protect his escape plan.

Fantastic read, it is officialy available in some European countries for a reason, it's definitely one of those series you have to buy.

All in all, it is an amazing manga. The ride was definitely worth it.

That's good. Real good.

Mangas like that are rare, in fact pieces of litterature that describe the human psyche so well are not so numerous.

So for everyone who's looking for a seinen (really for adult, not just because there is blood and monsters... SNK...), i advise foundly.

Goodbye Sudo

Damn, am i the only one who finds this better than those ecchi/harem shit?

Drama is good.

Drama is great.

Drama for the win~

Interestingly enough, I recently watched a testimony on YouTube of a guy who had a similar mindset and did a similar thing, but has since turned over a new leaf.  It's about half an hour long, but rather gripping.  If anyone's interested, here's the link:

Well, that was certainly interesting. I hesitated to watch it because of the religion aspect, and while the video didn't exactly make me inclined to change my beliefs, listening to that guy talking about his life and actions was definitely worthwhile.

I don't really see Miroku in him, though. While the guy in the video seems to have suffered from some kind of sociopathic megalomania, occasionally entering into a fullblown psychosis, I see Miroku as being driven most of all by insecurity and a sense of inferiority, being extremely self conscious and sensitive to the slightest criticism. His "project" or "the plan" is a way for him to be reborn into a "real human being" with real experience of the darker sides of humanity, who's fully in control of everything around him. When this fails, he doesn't know what to do. I find his thought processes and general mindset to be interesting as hell, probably in part because I recognise myself a bit in them.

Anyhow, it seems like what happens around chapter 20 is a dealbreaker for some people, and it's not as if I can't understand that. But at the same time, it's that completely unforgivable act that drives the rest of the series (and actually makes it superior to the original novel, in my opinion).

Usually I don't have a problem with lots of gore and death in manga, but something about this particular manga just rubs me the wrong way. I gave it to chapter twenty but that's gonna be it.

After a certain twist where he lost any and all moral high ground and just became regular scum is where I stopped reading, skipped way ahead to see latter on out of curiosity, doesn't get any better.

I agree that at the point where you probably stopped reading, he was pretty much yandere-chuunibyo-scum, but by that time, I was already hooked by the way his story was told, so I stuck around to see if he ever turns his life around.

And if it was just about money, which apparently it was, then he could have simply gone to school and gotten a job. It seemed he had the chances. I don't want to watch a selfish murderer run around and make excuses for himself.

I wouldn't say it was "just about the money", the money was a minor part of his motivation. You're right about the selfishness though, he is selfish as fuck, the entire thing basically revolves around him and his self esteem issues. I get what you're saying about dropping a manga because you can't stand the protagonist, it's the reason I never managed to get very far into Shamo, for example.

But personally, with Miroku I can sort of see where he's coming from and empathize with his reasoning, even though he's taking it way way too far. He's just so bloody pitiful, even though what he did is incredibly fucked up and wrong on every level. I guess I'm having the same reaction to him as certain people in the manga, ie Echika and Goi...

This is a really insightful and griping series, vastly underrated, I dare to say I'm more hooked into it than the Novel it was based on.

It's also weird as F.

Could always spread the love and talk about it in other "mystery" "action" and "seinen" tagged manga comment sections to spread the word. I do that with "underrated" manga all the time.

http://vatoto.com/comic/_/comics/kenji-r1351 viola, "underrated" classic.

I guess he need to take out that guy first before confessing for his crimes.

Well, I can say that at least Miroku had the courage to go back to Echika, if only this once, even if something bad happens to him or Echika in the end, he stuck it out. Honestly, I used to like Sudo... well, in a way I still do. His perspectives on reality and how one should live is intriguing in its own right, but the way he's trying so hard to convince Miroku he's a particular something kinda erks me off. Reminds me a lot of The Joker(The Dark Knight) when he turned Harvey Dent into a madman; the charisma he has in those moments of conversation is just astounding =03.

not gonna lie, the plot is gay, slow, and very cliche... but dam the drama is soooooooo deep, definitely worth the read if complexities/intricacies are your style

I started reading this a while ago but stopped because it wasn't updated as frequently. So I've just marathoned it from the most recent upload, and what a ride!

A lot of things are uncertain right now and that makes it better ( or worse depending on if you like getting cliffhang'd ).

But man, that guy the sister want wed into money is such a loser. Well is isn't a typical "loser" but you can clearly see he only cares about himself and his career. It's to be expected I guess, he's rich, and he's growing and he's still single. That's #1 redflag for any women that he's a terrible husband/lover.

Whatever happens to everyone else in this manga I don't really care but I hope she doesn't get married with the dude. My onee-san fetish can't handle such mediocre ending for her.

Thanks for the upload! Hope they change the ending differently from the book.

It's a shame this work isn't more widely known, as it's nothing short of amazing. Great chapters as always!
