Surprise U is the lamest band/group name I've ever heard.

To give this series a rating : 1/5.

Everything was bad, starting from the characters of the cast over the not-throughly explained background of the agency they work for till the mainly non-existent character developement.

I know that this story was mainly an advertisement for a certain talent agency but well, it's still a lot worse than e.g. the webtoon based on the anti-smoking campaign,especially regarding that there isn't even a real story in this webtoon and everything feels just random and thrown-together[not to mention the fact that the base trope/premise is already overused and feels clicheed out].

He was angry because Hyeseong said he wasn't interested in Jiyu, but he followed them when they were going to have a private talk + Hyeseong said he liked Sayeon, not Jiyu - so he felt betrayed ig 

What kind of idiot doesn't realize that feelings change...it's not like he had a chance anyways, being a stalker, and all. (Although in fairness, female leads go for terrible guys all the time, so I guess there was always a possibility...)

Is this guy really having trouble deciding between taking some one-time bribe vs boosting his career? Like, he'd really rather have a stain on his career where he screwed up the debut of a really promising group just for some extra cash? Is he in debt or something? WTF?

I'm a bit confused. Why is the CEO trying to screw with their group? I thought CEO's wanted idol groups to succeed not fail and fall a part.

The debut team's members aren't official yet. Depending on the public's response to the group during the school festival, the members may change.

For example, Fantagio had Astro perform at a showcase in 2015, where 7 members performed two covers of popular songs at the time. However, when Astro debuted in 2016, there were only 6 members, with one of the members removed (Son Junyong).

Oh wow, really? I didn't see it coming at all. Usually, the main character gets the girl he likes, so I didn't expect her to be taken.

Nah, this is more like a korean Skip Beat. The MC may actually get the manager or another girl better than the one he liked in the beginning.

This is a collaboration between Fantagio and Comica. They interviewed current actors and trainees in the company to come up with a story. ASTRO and VENUS make a cameo in the series, and you can see Fantagio's name on the side of a building in one panel.

 

Though we don't know this for sure, some fans suspect that the main character is Ong Sungwoo, a participant in Produce 101 season two (a reality boy group TV show where the viewers pick the members of an idol group).

Fantagio recently revealed that Surprise U (an OST with the same name appears in ch21) is the name for their new acting group.

There no clear indication of this, but OSW sings in the Surprise U OST, and resembles the main character. Fantagio announced if he doesn't make it into the final lineup in PD101, then he'll join Surprise U. 

If Cha Hyeseong is based off of OSW, it's possible that the other members in the actor group in Trainees are based on the members in Surprise U.

 

So yeah, that this is prolly to build hype for the Surprise U & OSW lol.
