The Nightmare of Fabrication

Alt Names: alt Serial Experiments Lain - The Nightmare of Fabricationalt Serial Experiments Lain: The Nightmare of Fabrication
Author: Abe Yoshitoshi
Artist: Abe Yoshitoshi
Genres: Drama DramaPsychological PsychologicalSci-fi Sci-fiSeinen Seinen
Type: Manga (Japanese)
Status: Complete
Description: The Nightmare of Fabrication is a beautifully drawn full-colour manga from Yoshitoshi Abe. The 18 page short story can be found in the Lain Omnipresence in Wired artbook. It's a bonus story which apparently isn't related with neither the Serial Experiments Lain anime nor the PS game. It shows characters who were included in the PS game but not in the TV series (like the psychiatrist), but also determinant characters from the anime who didn't appear in the videogame (like Deus).

Let's all love Lain!

This was actually a tie-in to the Lain video game's canon, though you can still understand it pretty well if you've only watched the anime.

I suggest you read a synopsis of the game's story, or try to find a translated playthrough, though, since it's much different than the anime.

I'll write something I like better some day. I appreciate it, but it lacks some depth in explaination, BUT on the other hand the story seems focused on the slightly younger kids. My guess is that the mental age should be estimated around 6 - 16 years old.

Well, it does lack a bit of explanation. It's a tie-in comic that was published in the artbook to an anime that aired in the 1990s. It's simply assumed that you've seen the show already, and know who the characters are and what they do, because why else would you buy an artbook?

...

Not that that having seen the anime necessarily helps. The show is a bit of an acid trip at times. But I enjoyed the comic, in that kinda creepy unsettled way Lain is supposed to be enjoyed.

(It's okay, Lain, I still remember you.)

Fantastic.

If you don't get it, you should probably watch the anime S.E.L (Serial Experiment Lain) first, then re-read it.

Its interesting but I don't get what happened >.<
@IostsouI, I do believe you missed the point completely.

Well, that was fantastic.
This was really good. Mostly unexpected for a oneshot.

Approved!
