I can't believe I didn't notice he's black jack's doppelganger till the last pages of chapter two. Ugh, the shame...
well... if you count for inflation, those 5 million yen would be over 5.8 mill today. convert to american money, and you're getting close to $50k.
that's not really a small sum for cooking one meal.
These guys are some cheap idiots, 5 million yen in 1985 was only about $20k. For matters of state that's less than nothing, he should've asked for 20 million at least.
