Personally, didn't like the ending. But at least it has one.
Great manga, but i honestly feel like it went downhill after the first arc. Felt like the author didnt know where he wanted to go after the first arc, and just threw short arcs together haphazardly. The high anti-american feeling of the manga made it a bit of an awkward read, but it was understandable given the time period (though i think that the feeling remains even to this day in japan).

Firstly I don't translate so it's beyond me to pick up any project by myself and second that series is still an active project from what I can tell.
Hey Thanks for this manga I am hoping tome gets an ending she deserved by that I mean she isnt shown as a grave stone next to her husband. The fact that she was forgotten about is frustrating I am hoping harukas grandaughter can bring out her legend again.
Maybe her son continued the banks line as an adult tome said she would raise him alone as she was the victor anyway i am also sad haruka died young you need to realise the japanese have the longest lifespans so she should have lived an extra 15-20 years by japanese standards.

Its only had one chapter over the last 6 months its another historical manga also quite interesting as far as i am aware its not mega long either about 20 volumes so less than 200 chapters but hey thanks for translating this manga glad i read it hoping the ending isnt sad.
Tome as a grandma, the most awesome of all grandmas that's for sure.

Oh, how I remember the times when I enjoyed every updates of this series. :c
I don't know what it is about Tomoe that makes her feel the need to 'bet' everything she has on stuff, but I can't disagree with the assistant girl whose thought bubble says ' but that kind of wager is worthy of her" or something like that. I would not personally oblige myself into a situation where my life is in the hands of others...and for a moment she seemed to be saying the same thing: this is my new start and no one is going to have control of me...but then when the moment presents itself, she makes that bet... odd, and quite unexpected, but this woman lives in the moment, is quite spontaneous, so it's not terribly inconsistent.
I have to say, of all the manga out there written in a previous time period, I really think this is my favorite. It helps, of course, that the author is sharing his/her passion for the game of baseball, which I also love.
Well I guess she's still on about that.

I guess she has to win or else this journey would of been all for naught.
Although I do like stories where the character doesn't end up where his initial goal is, a lot more realistic that way and allows for more character growth.

Yeah it was just an empty threat. Still surprised that Tome kept the kid, normally they let the mother a few hours and then a family member picks up the baby. But it's fiction... all goes.
That means either Gerald saw his son a few times or not at all. He probably had no contact ( man what the hell ) because he would know what she wants ( like the journalist said ) if he had a few convos with her.
Now these next 2 chapters will be interesting to see.
The two of them could strike a deal, she goes back to Japan from kindergarden to middle/high school to instill in him all that nippon pride. But they/he have to come back for Highschool/College in the states for the heir stuff. This looks to me like an okay compromise. Which is way this probably won't happen, it's almost too easy!
Anyhow, the next two chapters are named "Start" and "The end of the war".
The war chapter's name interest me more, it could either be the korean war is ending, but more probably is something to do with her burying the whole us vs them thing. Sort of like burying the hatchet.
Anyhow Gerald is rich and isn't a criminal so she can't win in courts for child custody. She has to convince him in order for her to do what she wants. But Gerald is an okay guy, he might have said those harsh words to Isuzu but I don't think he'll be such a jerk.
I also wonder what's the name of the Child, we'll know next chapter!
The chapter after those 2 mentioned in my post previously is also called "The great Ace". It could be either Tome or her son being a baseball prodigy.
hmm, legally Isuzu Ranzaki doesn't have a point there...and Tome was allowed to keep him as well even though he has family. On a related note, he might have his dad's eyebrows (maybe the eyes too), but that's about it.
So she's going to jail. Guess Gerald is actually going to spend some time with his son after all. I was sure she was going to escape to Japan and the forever heirless Gerald would never see his son.
Not that I think they'll be in an actual relationship when she gets out.
I wonder how this will end.Will she have her moment? Or will it be a time skip to her son being Japan's Ace and owning it up?
Shouldn't there be like um a tragedy tag attached to this manga?, guessing this does not have a happy ending.
