i was trying my best to read this manga till ch 15. but, i couldn't help my self from dropping this. I just couldn't stand those peoples around MC, especially his mom. even though i really like the mc....
Same here for the ending! This manga also has really likeable characters. Even the ones I found irritating in the begininng gradually grew on me.

I read the rest and I must say it's actually quite good.
I guess the whole pitch is about the MC becoming less "anal" and enjoying his youth more.
But with irresponsible people around him, how could he? Everyone just tramples thoughtlessly on his dream to go to Harvard, including his mother.
If I were him, I'd hook up with the little girl.
She's the smartest of the lot.
But she pins for the grass-eating tree-hugger. And he pins for the wannabe painter bitch. Love is blind.
This early work of Ninomiya-sensei is not as graphically polished as her more recent work. But it is unusual in that it has a constantly evolving plot that gets crazier and crazier without basically any filler. And it has one of the most satisfying endings I've ever encountered in manga.
The mother, the stepfather, the stepbrother are all irresponsible beings that cause suffering for the MC. He has a good head, a responsible attitude at age 11, and the ambition to succeed, yet everything works against him since the start of this manga.
Of course, the MC is kinda rude, but what do you expect from a 17-year-old having to shoulder his family since 11 years old? Having ppl talking about youth, dream, and relaxing in life when you are working the sht out to keep your house everyday is a way to go mad.
Getting cucked by your new dad and brother must be hell. And it is certainly a shoujo manga since for some reason he's supposed to just be okay with all of this bullshit
