OOOH I JUST CAME BACK RECENTLY - IT GOT PICKED UP AGAIN?!? YAHOOOO

@sssr I didn't know there's a literary work on it o-O

hmm, this is pretty interesting.

both omnipotentcheese's and sssr's comments as well.

This is pretty bad.

It's basically making women out to be inherently evil. Except the main character who is "good" because she is meek and kind. The women who have had power their whole lives are cruel and base of character. There is some highly gnarly sexism implicit in here.

So the story is gross.

The artwork is very pretty though.

Not a follow. 2 stars.

The "Land of Daughters" was originally a literary cycle in Chinese "hospitality culture" that was probably developed by FEMALE Daoist philosophers of the Eastern Jin Dynasty. I think in English literature you would call it ribald or pulp literature, but "hospitality culture" literature was more developed and high-class than what we would now call porn. Chinese hospitality culture included a wide range of services from the plainly sexual brothels where whores plied their trade to family-friendly eateries and opera-houses to the more sophisticated tea houses and qi (chess) parlors where courtesans entertained nobles with their wit and artistic talents.

The literary cycle itself was traditionally carried forth and expanded on by the courtesan class as part of their entertainment of noble patrons. Elements of sado-masochism inevitably entered the narratives - they were courtesans after all - but femdom was an underlying foundation of the cycle precisely because it started off as a philosophical discourse on mirror psychology. Women are depicted - BY WOMEN - as being cruel, jealous, sexually domineering, and generally manipulative to extrapolate what Daoist philosophy perceived as "mirrored" Yin quality of "dominant" Yang traits in men. In the original philosophical style of the cycle, the purpose of this extrapolation was to educate male listeners to seek balance in their lives by showing them a world of extremes ("The Land of Daughters") in which both sexes lived their lives accentuating these opposed extremes of their Yin and Yang traits.

While it may sound surprising that courtesans would engage in such deep philosophical discourse in this particular way, you have to remember that there were practical benefits for them as well. Generally, the philosophical discourse underlying this cycle boils down to, "Be nice to women; imagine if your roles were reversed."

This manhua is actually rather mild compared to the original literature in the cycle. I do admire the artist for making the effort to continue this tradition. Much of the "Land of Daughters" cycle was kept in the courtesan tradition that disappeared with the rise of the Republic of China. The People's Republic closed down the last remaining hospitality districts in the 1950s, effectively bringing into extinction the ancient hospitality culture.

could little yun'er be the ghost ajussi from before?  whatever he is, he's not normal, that's plain as of ch 10

but he was so cute before ><

along with the whole "wife" thing i love how it seems lielong is talking like yuner is already their son XD

Thank you soo much for updating this manga. Its been so long. :')

I hope you'll continue to update it. :)
______________

Yeah I wished she would have a little more dignity. Biting a guy on his ankle while crying when you know he wants to kill you is not smart at all. Ugh I felt my pride being sucked away when I read that scene. Other than that its all fine mostly.

How is it that its set in the land of extreme reverse sexism, yet the heroine is still being dominated all over, lame.

Can't argue against a fetish.

I love this comic - thanks for picking it up! I've read to chapter 33 in Chinese till the comic demanded money? I would have paid but I was barely scraping through reading - it was so hard to navigate to join and pay that I gave up.

M Scanlations was good but he wasn't very into the manga/scanlating - or that was the impression I was getting from his posts.

This is a really funny and interesting manhwa for anyone who love bishies and headstrong women. Yay!
