Nah, i've always thought this was one of the best Haruhi doujin series out there; i even helped translate chapter 6 on Danbooru. If you liked it, the author's first commercially published (and localized) series, Species Domain, has pretty similar comedic beats and timing. The setup and characters even have a lot of parallels to Haruhi, though the character most similar to Kyon does somewhat less snarky navel-gazing as her own issues are rather more front-and-center.

Does anyone know, in regards to "Ruhuna", why originaly-female alternate-universe Kyonko's appearance is, presumably, stand-alone?

I mean, her narrative hasn't any introduction or continuance outside that one doujin.

Though, if it happens to be that too many people complained about the existence of a non-transformed Kyonko to the mangaka, I'd fancy tracking those bastards down and kicking their faces in engaging in rigorous debate on why a female-brain Kyonko is ddaaaaawsome.

It starts off a silly rule I-don't-remember-which-number dj, with a slightly OoC Haruhi in raep gorilla overdrive mode. But it's much more than that. It fits the usual Haruhi tone so well, and even the 18+ material (currently not here I presume) is incredibly good, and by that I mean it's not just porn. Actually it's not porn at all.

 

If you're up to date with and appreciated the first season and the movie, give it a go.

Yeah, I enjoy it. It strikes me as something that could've easily been covered in one of the books. And it's certainly more interesting to read than purely gender-swapped cast members.

There haven't been any updates since chapter 7. The author is currently working on a published manga, "Species Domain," so yeah, we probably won't be getting any more of this unfortunately.

Hey, that was actually rather interesting. I sure hope we get a third part after that cliffhanger.
