10/10 would read again for the umpteenth time.

Great series, you really come to admire the puppet master after a few chapters.

This page is great. But by saying "I'm sorry...", doesn't that mean Sumire admit that she is a doll thus breaking her character?

I feel like these puppeteers in this series live solely for their art, since they make no intention of worrying for their own bodies and only for breathing life into their art. They adamantly refuse to acknowledge that they exist while they are on their "stage" performing.

Who the hell is the old man, how old is the old man, why does he come back constantly to high schools to make the puppet act, why is he so adamant on wanting to make friends and  what would be fond memories for a teenage girl, and why did he create Sumire in the first place? This series can get helluva dark if you think it through.

During the grade school arc in the first series I got the idea in my head that he'd had a daughter who died in an accident or something, and he wanted to be able to have her to continue to live on in some way and have the school life she'd never had, switching to bigger puppets as time passed. That way the world wouldn't miss out on the kind of person she would have been. That actually made the series a lot sadder to read.

That is until the female puppeteer showed up for no real reason, and I figured that I was thinking too much into things- since I doubt they both had deeper reasons for what they do. He might just be a little girl at heart, or an extremely dedicated actor/puppeteer/mentor .

Thanks for finishing the series you guys! I thought I'd never see the end. T^T <-- (bittersweet?) tears of joy

Man just replied to my tweet. Fellow seems nice, for a guy who draws about an old dude with a life sized female student doll on his hand. =D

I know the continuation is the 16-sai series at some point. But at the last page was written" volume 2 end" and not "The End". So it means they decided the end of this prequel at this time after all?

Well, that's a good ride after all this far. Good Series.

Thanks god there wasn't almost any romance towards doll in sequel.

Sumire is at an end, but the author has another ongoing series about a robot house dog or something. I'll be looking into getting that worked on.

If you want to send the author a nice message or something, here's the Twitter.

It can.  And yet . . . the triumph of the manga for me is that those thoughts occur to you (and to the other characters for that matter) but somehow can't get purchase compared to the bright sunny positiveness that is Sumire.

Nooooo! This series needs more chapters! There should be more chapters!! There must be more chapters!!!

We need sumire 18!

Stupid Japanese popularity pools...

shit, i guess that's the end of all of it. fuck

There is a live action of this manga youtube.com/watch?v=2X7r_fYte5g

So instead of a middle aged man with his hand inside a doll, there's an early thirties guy with his hand pressed against a girls back.....Japan...um I'm not sure how to react to that...
was it ever fansubbed?

This... is seriously deranged... in a good way.

proving once again, that you have to get your head in the game, if you want to win...

I want a live action on this one.

Mind you, it wouldn't be entirely live action, what with the MC being a wooden doll. ;)

baru-kyun (trump card). lol

The old man's dedication to character is so incredible.  Hilarious, but also a thing of awe; how can you not treat Sumire as real when he's willing to suffer and risk so much to maintain her reality?

This should be in the manga's annotation.
