These so-called Avengers are tasked with seeking vengeance on behalf of the bereaved by executing criminals using the same methods they themselves used on their victims.

The series consists of two parallel serializations, one in Shonen Gangan and one in Gangan Online. The Shonen Gangan series focuses on Avenger No. 9, Kōta Kiyodera, a kind, passionate man who strongly sympathizes with the victims for whom he seeks revenge. The Gangan Online series focuses on Avenger No. 8, Ryōko Koizumi, a young woman described as an angel who descends on the avenging fields to enforce the Vengeance Act. Other members of the team include Avenger No. 0, Captain Kamui Oda and Avenger No. 7, Yūji Yamagishi.

Seishi Kishimoto may conceive interesting plots (I quite liked Crimsom Wolf to be honnest), but he really has a problem with execution. His scenes, dialogues and characters have the subtlety of a shotgun.

I guess at least all of his mangas are different, that's a plus.

I skimmed through chapter 1, but this plot already has a huge problem with it.

The new revenge law wouldn't deter crime any more than a normal death sentence. It would only deter excessively violent murders. People would simply go for as quick, painless kills as possible instead of prolonged murders.

That makes the entire premise a little suspension of disbelief breaking. It'd probably be a lot more interesting if the law made more sense (as opposed to the "you're free to leave if you don't die" nonsense) or the executioners administered even harsher, more cruel methods than the original criminals used.

You're forgetting the don't go free, they'll be under probation for 3 years and if they do commit another crime then it's death sentence(or that's what i understood about that law)

You have missed the entire point with the vengeance law. The vengeance law main purpose is to get the victim´s family to move on with life. As I doubt you ever have had a close one to you murdered, you would never understand the feeling of the victim´s family. Unless you try to get into the minds of a victim´s family, I can see why you would think the way you do.

Try to entertain this idea, imagine that you have a little sister that you love very much. One day when you come home, your lil sister isn´t there. You later found out she have been raped and beaten to death by a drunkard. At court, you see that the murderer feel absolutely no remorse, hell he even rub it in your face. He´s sentence is a lifetime in prison.

Now normally, you would feel that that wasn´t enough. Your lil sis is dead, and the perpetrator is behind bars living a comfortable life in a modern prison facility that runs on your tax money. Must individuals, would have a hard time forgetting this, in fact, it would eat at them. The thought would hinder the individual thinking about the future, and instead dwelling in the past. Regrets, why you wasn´t there to protect your sister, the hate for the murderer.

You´re now not a productive member of the society. At least not as much as you were before. Now, what if, in exchange for that murderer´s life, you would find closure and move on with your life, finally looking forward to the future? And there you have it, after getting vengeance, you might finally be back to do something productive for the society, and society have lost one murderer, one less mouth to feed with the tax money, and you´re on the good path again.

Hope you at least can somewhat understand now.

Chapter 2 is up on mangastream.

Tbh I don't like this manga and its characters at all. I read the second chapter expecting an improvement, but this is just making me sick. I mean I can live with fucked up characters and brutality, but when a whole society is this fucked up it just makes me mad. Dropped.

Maybe if you thought about it from the victim´s family POV a little more, you wouldn´t think that the society was all that ****** up. Legalized vengeance is an interesting premise. And vengeance is nothing we think about everyday, I mean how often is it a close one get murdered? So the thought of the whole eye for an eye might not feel all that normal, maybe a little repulsive. But if you just think about it a little more, it doesn´t seem all that abnormal, legalized vengeance that is.

One more thing, for people calling this Freesia light? What? Freesia wasn´t all that brutal if you "measure" the gore and blood. Although they tread the same premise, the focus is very different, so is Freesia´s mentally unstable MC. I enjoy both Freesia and Sukedachi, and just because Sukedachi don´t show nudity doesn´t make it any less "adult". If that what you meant with Freesia lite that is.

I have high hopes for this, just wish dearly this doesn´t end up wallow in the typical "this-is-all-wrong", "murderers doesn´t deserve to be treated as murderers, they´re human too!". For now 5/5

inb4 girlfriend character is only in the series to die a horrible death.

Finally, somebody posted this series.

This is interesting!

already seen in Freesia.

hmm. What if the crime is rape?

Oh come on.

Well, I'll bite. The law specifically mentions murders. In case the victim is raped to death, then I guess the punishment will be impalement.

hmm. What if the crime is rape?

So there are two yamagishi yuujis?

This is interesting!

Another Dendrobate like manga, followed!

Another shouen with a very disturbing theme.

this is good i want more

Freesia lite.

Wow, a clone of Cyborg 009.
