Description: Being his first series, What a Wonderful World remains Asano’s most representative and successful work to date.

Composed of vignettes from the daily lives of a group of people inhabiting an ordinary neighborhood somewhere in Tokyo, the series is actually a comment about modern life itself and how we can survive in it despite all its rigors.

Amusing, melancholic, funny, strange, thought-provoking—Asano effortlessly shifts from one mood to another, creating stories and characters that are profoundly human and thus always involving. It’s a shame that not everyone will find the subjects the author describes equally appealing since some of them are distinctly Japanese. But overall, it’s a great collection that any discerning manga reader should check out.

nvm I I realized I was replying to trolling ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I haven't figured out how to live my life, tbh.

Being a third worlder, it's already fairly hard for me to relate to Japanese "life is so boring, whatever will I do" melodrama. But this one really took the cake. By which I mean I fucking hated it. But I did read all of it, so I guess the author wins. Haha...

At least, the characters got what they deserved for their petty whining. And the art was pretty good. Now, on to the next one.

Okay, that guy in that last chapter, not going to lie, best waifu ever. Or husbando. Bit of both, cause damn, what a man.

I agree with "melancholic, funny, strange". I'd also say bleak. It's not a post-apocalyptic world, yet most of the characters have already seen an apocalypse of the heart. Even dreams are there mostly to taunt you--keep you moving forward on a hopeless treadmill.

Reading this do we agree with Camus, that the struggle itself is enough to fill man's heart? "One must imagine Sisyphus happy."  Or do we find ourselves empty shells as the world moves on, like the character who wishes for one happy moment to never end?

This definitely needs to be read whenever you're having a bad day. It's got this nice subtly in telling you that you can still keep going.

Hm, this one was lighter than other stories.

I won't lie, I liked it.

It was interesting. It had a mellow feel to it. It doesn't feel incomplete even tough you don't what happens to everyone. It's more of a "life goes on" kind of stories. If you like slice of life, enjoy!

And for those unhappy with the description, that's what the edit button is for.

The description needs a rewrite from someone who didn't jizz himself while he was typing it. Seriously can't people write descriptions with out author bias? It's like writing 101.
