I just wonder... this got axed because of the story being horrible , or the story is horrible because it got axed...

How about:
the axing of the manga was horrible, so the mangaka got really mad and decided to vent their anger by making the end of the story horrible.

This manga deserve to be axed. 2 years training and you can become astronauts. No college, no fly experience?. Read Planetes instead of this pile of bullshit guy

They didn't need to become astronauts. They just had to travel to mars.

WHOAA what a deal!! Free demon possession with every exorcism!! Can't beat that now do ya?

Space isn't dead at all. Sadly, every space series seems to get a spotlight-stealing squadron of stupidly big robots.

Also gotta factor in on what magazine it was published in. This was in shonen jump, so it was doomed from the start. If it was in a different magazine, this could have gone on for longer and have a different story all together.

That's very doubtful. Look at what happened to this manga's contemporary "Star Children". It was axed even sooner, even though in my opinion it was a bit better. I think what this really means is that space is dead -- no one cares about it anymore.

For other manga, they get cancelled because of a poorly-written story but for this manga, I'd go with the latter. It's pretty rare for an axed series to pull off a well-written ending when it's given only a few chapters left before it finally ends.

I liked it from the beginning. But the pace was too slow for jump so they were told to speed it up and come up with an end to the story.

I knew this series is going to be axed, ever since the alien first appeared, peropunyan? really? REALLY. =_=

Manga was all about training, testing, and competitiveness... then it jumped to ALIEN FRIENDSHIP IS MAGIC as it coasted to a halt. Goodnight sweet prince.

( TnT)~ why did this have to get axed... I'll miss St&rs. It was shiny and different and fun.

A huge thankyou to the scanlators and co, and to the mangaka for toughing out to make a decently wrapped up ending. <3

Spoiler

That alien at the end reminded me a lot of the alien from Foo Fighter Fuji for some reason...

...Same artist.

It was getting axed because popularity dropped, so he had to do a very rushed ending. It happens quite frequently, just look at Cage of Eden for example.

That's it then. Heartfelt thanks to the scanlators who worked on this project, and doubly so for those that continued despite cancellation.

Beetlejuice and that stars name.. two different things, but funny ^^.

They're not different at all. The name Beetlejuice was deliberately created as a corrupted spelling of Betelgeuse.

now shipping Amachi x star-loli Betelgeuse. Too Cute. lol.

The author should have read a little more about space-time. Not only space was created with the big bang but time as well.

To understand that one should understand the meaning of entropy first. :-)

Spoiler

Oh it's coming!

still, you have to respect the mangaka for doing whatever he can to finish this manga. ignoring the ridiculous turn of events in the story it's actually not all that bad.

a lot of other axed manga ended up worse.

Well I'm not surprised after the recent turn this manga has taken.

You've got it backwards. It was axed due to low popularity in early 2012, and that's why the author had to hurry the story onwards at a breakneck pace, just to get a conclusion in the handful of chapters he was still allowed.

Sadly, this was indeed axed. There's 5 volumes though, so there should be four or five more chapters.
