As far as I can tell it didn't get axed and ends as it was intended to. (Having looked at the raws)
This was axed? How come it's still on going on manga updates? Btw new chapter sucks cause no rape scene. This is suppose to be my 2nd favorite fantasy manga next to Goblin Slayer but I'm now doubting the authors creativity on tragic matters. Yes involving rape in manga is creative, zimbabwe
Moe Moe for best girl
Well this was the infamous chapter predicted by Celldweller, the so called "dumbest chapter", and it was actually good, they used her as target practice to kill time, but since they can't kill her they purposely miss, of course since they need her alive; they never fall asleep, instead they are fall victims of diversionary tactics which are used to rescue her, and we got to know their plans on how to conquer the continent, which of course doesn't takes into account the humans, for A) they are less nimble than the Klorks, B ) way weaker than the giants, and C) already got their capital destroyed so they lack the resources to resist, and since humans in this series seem to actually be normal, they can't deus ex themselves using the hidden power of humanity, which ends being just things like love, friendship, kindness, compassion, or just plain bullshit.
So now that the worst chapter in the series has passed, i am now doubtful of the reasons given by Celldweller, and i am, on the contrary inclined to think that this was axed because it wasn't an isekai about a brokenly powerful NEET that saves the day in an MMO just by breathing, however i am open to more evidence showing me how the story declines, but with that said i don't think Celldweller's previous point is holding much ground.
If anything i have against this manga for now, is that the fan-service and nudity is bringing nothing to the story, of course since it is just that fan-service, however it is also being done half assedly, thus compared to other fantasy echi borderline hentai series out there this one just can't compete, and i do think it would have worked way better as a normal fantasy story without the echi, since the world building and settings are the fortes of this, so maybe the error of the author lies on the magazine chosen for publication, also seeing the authors other works the fact that he could come up with something this is kind of surprising, we may be seeing another case similar to Hiramoto Akira the author of Ago Nashi Gen to Ore Monogatari, Prison School, and also, somehow Ore to Akuma no Blues.
No, but the final battle is near.
I'm actually a huge fan of the "magic: ain't explainin' shit" meme, I was explaining why it might be important, also we were sharing opinions, not calling each other morons for our tastes in literature, and which part of what I said was belittling?
what kind of coherency is there in LOTR magic anyway? its the ultimate "magic:aint explainin' shit" story
what about magical nature of Cthulu and its kin? different people means different taste and opinion
opinion is not fact, belittling someone does not makes you smart
I think you took the word "system" a little too literally, I meant that the magical system wasn't "coherent" in the first place, hence why it was annoying, and i don't know about you, but having nothing explained doesn't automatically equal a sense of wonder and adventure for most people, you need some kind of foundation to stand on when it comes to magic, why do you think people enjoy urban fantasy so much? It's because a bridge is being built between reality and fantasy, they're not diluting the wonder for people they're giving it substance so people can relate.
Go watch a Micheal Bay movie and tell me if you're experiencing a sense of wonder and adventure from the complete lack of coherency.
Annoying? It was the only appropriate way of doing it. There is no "system" for magic, so anything goes. Applying such fantasy systems on otherwise medieval worlds is what's annoying. LOTR magic is an inherent part of the world. Through the Silmarillion the entire world of LOTR is magic. It's not something to comprehend by design, not a fake pseudo-scientific "system", but a simple statement: "This is a fantasy world. It has different origins and trite daily logic and common sense do not apply to it."
That's what allows one to feel the feelings of wonder and adventure only fantasy can provide. If you detail a coherent magical system it's not "magic" anymore, it's a fake science in a faux medieval world or some-such.
How many chapters before she gets captured again?
The minimal magic part does annoy me a bit, LOTR was really annoying when it came to the mechanics of how magic worked, I get the feeling some authors are just paranoid about introducing magic and tend towards the other extreme when it concerns power creep, happy mediums are so hard to find these days.
My problem is that you complain about the manga losing "its unique story of struggle and rebuilding of one people" as you put it, when it's never been about that. The overall story was always: something really bad and unnatural happens and it's the protagonist's job to deal with it. Surprise, but this is still what the story is about until the end.
Why are you all triggered because I said "humans" lmao. My point was that Claria and her people (humans, coincidentally) are the surviving, struggling protagonists of the story, but if the story shifts away from them then all those previous chapters about them become obsolete. Claria and her people could be arachnoid aliens for all I care, but my point remains the same.
Also, what's that about being AXED? Do you guys have any proofs? Not all relatively short contained stories are AXED.
And what is exactly dumb about this chapter? Vivian actually took precautions that allowed her to be saved and orcs are naturally dumb. And the story was never going to be about humans rebuilding their kingdom, as it was stated that the Wumpas' behavior was unnatural from the get-go.
Also, what's your problem with Alfrs and gnomes (who were shown to exist in some extra chapter already), I don't see you complaining about those boring generic humans. And orcs are quite different from what you normally see.
Personally, I find the world quite interesting, humans are just one of the many races inhabiting it and they don't dominate it for some reason unlike in many other fantasy stories. Also for a fantasy story there isn't much magic
Claria you can't just ask someone why they're black XD
Don't spoil me the details of the upcoming chapters, I'm already expecting it to happen
Don't disappoint me, Tomi-Sensei
This right here. Human supremacy or a mostly human cast is the majority, CNs are even worse with that.
Well that's a pity, however i personally don't mind if in a fantasy story humans matter the least, that's actually subverting the trope of your average fantasy story.
Around elves watch yourselves.
Orcs + blonde women = Hentai
I agree, but deviating from the isekai norm is not why this manga got axed. It was because
Oh and the following chapter is possibly the dumbest one I ever read. Basically
Anyone have any recs for manga similar to this one?
Oh man this is sad to hear, so nowadays if you don't become stupidly broken strong by just existing or breathing people wont be interested? why is there such a big market for that anyways? are people so bad at games that they need to seek refuge into a powertrip fantasy that badly?
what this manga ended already??
last time i check baka-update it's still ongoing
Yeah, this series is finished, it is short but really good, maybe it is not popular as same as isekai series, thus it is axed. There are no so overpower characters who dominated the battlefield one-side, unlike boring cheating MCs in most of Isekai series.
