Life does not always go as planned. Noriko fell in love, got engaged, and imagined a bright future. Instead, her fiance fell in love with her older sister, Eiko. Noriko refused to let go, and they ended up getting married despite this significant problem. Some years of marriage and two children later, Noriko became a single mother. She returned to her family home, with her daughters Eri and Madoka. Her life continued, alongside Eiko (who ended up never marrying or leaving home), and their now elderly mother. Years later, Eri and Madoka are entering the time of life where they have their own problems with love. This manga follows the lives of this house of women.

Updated the Bato.to description. Yes, there is a second volume. And I've read it. It's not as good as v1, but it's pretty good.
MU lists this as ongoing with 2 volumes... so why is this set as complete? ...Is it really complete? I'd love to see more of this family and how they move forward in life.
It's when I want to find emotions like these that I read josei. My, my, is this top notch. <3 Because life is just like this: complicated.

Although I loved the entire thing, my favorite part is still the part when Hayasaka recounts the entire story in his perspective through Rakugo. I keep reading it again every time I come to this page.

Read that chapter again. On one page she tells her sister she's jealous of her ability to be honest about her feelings, then the next page shows the flashback of her rejecting the guy while clearly blushing. I thought it was pretty obvious she was interested in him but refused for her sister's sake.
i don't think the aunt liked the guy at all though? i mean, in one chapter she said that she didn't think anything of the guy,
Nice. Dunno quite what to say, which is weird for me, but I liked it.
I like this manga. I really like and respect how each chapter (out of the ones that have been translated to English so far) are episodic with subtle (noticeable, but not focal) connections between each other.

It's complicated because it's a slice-of-life. Life "ain't" easy is it? Adding in josei and you've got a real story - about anything can happen now (no limitations like a shoujo).
I don't know... from the tone of the manga and the first chapter's ending (a kind of conflict resolution), I don't think this is going to be heavily drama/angst-ridden. Maybe episodic chapters with little heart-warming incidents and a slowly-coming-along plot? Either way, it's rather cute. Let's see where this series is gonna take us.

I totally agree. I've never read any manga like this before...and I've read about 400-500 mangas. This makes me feel so...complicated.
I DON'T KNOW HOW TO FEEL ABOUT THIS. It could either be cute and funny, or it could be a shotgun, filled with the glass shards of angst and drama, waiting in an alley to shoot us in the face.
