Description: | AKA Sonnan ja nee yo / It's Not Like That Meet Shizuki Maku - to say she looks "above average" would be a slight overstatement, but it's especially bad compared to her older twin brothers, the highschool heartthrobs Retsu and Tetsu. She always wondered whether or not she really belonged in her family, but things take a shocking twist when her brothers plant the suggestion that they may not be related after all. Now she's supposed to pick one of them to be her boyfriend, all the while defending herself from all the other girls at school who want to keep her "brothers" for themselves! Life isn't easy when you're the ugly duckling! Sonnan ja nee yo received the Shogakukan Manga Award for shoujo manga in 2006. |

One of my all time favourite mangas. I keep coming back and rereading it and it is hilarious and interesting every single time.
Unfortunately, I didn't like this title. I got through volume 3 before I couldn't read it anymore due to the repetitiveness and the completely bizarre reactions the characters had to situations. It started out decently enough but soon got tiresome with all the undeserved persecution Shizuka had to deal with in basically every chapter. People are jealous of her and she's not beautiful. OK, we got it in volume one. The dead horse is beyond beaten.
As for the bizarre reactions... Take what happens at the end of volume 2 for an example.
That's just one example out of many where the characters act unnaturally for the sake of a plot device.
At any rate, there were some good qualities to the story that made me hold on for a while but it wasn't enough to keep my interest. While nowhere near something like Peach Girl in terms of ludicrousness, the story made me roll my eyes one too many times. There's much better shoujo out there to read.
Beeuwaaaaaaaaaah *tear strained face*
The story was just so good enough of traditional and original ! Thanks so mush to NOIR team for picking this project. It definitely deserves to have more views. Very strong characters and actually I haven't found anyone to be you know... shallow or something. This is really a good reading and the story is freshly told. The incest theme is treated seriously with enough maturity and realistic points to be believed in. I loved how there wasn't any goody two shoes but only people trying to overcome their hard times.
Again thank you for bringing this to us >.<
Should be cliche pap. But it isn't. The heroine has an interesting personality and can be very strong and tough at times. And it doesn't feel that angsty most of the time; there's quite a bit of humour and it can be absolutely hilarious. The mother is a total hoot--tough lady, ooh yeah. At least one of the brothers makes her heart go doki-doki, but at the same time he's a guy she's been kicking his butt to get him up in the morning for years. I also like the way quite often some character will show up and try some manipulative stunt meant to create a rift between characters, the kind of thing that in lots of mangas creates misunderstandings for chapters on end, and the brothers, for instance, will say "Did you think we would fall for that? You're troubling our sister. Go away if you want to live."
Gets my seal of approval.
