A task force called the Jackalope are set on annihilating them before they raise more havoc and so Yōkō's new life begins.

Deadman Wonderland had a pretty awful start but became really good near the end. I'm hoping this shows the same promise.

Not to put to fine a point on it, but in reading your complaints, I feel like you might have missed the bit where the main character is supposed to be genuinely and completely bat-shit crazy?

The rest of your complaints are just issues of personal taste and how far you're willing to go in suspension of disbeleif, which I can respect, but I do reccomend taking another stab at learning the magic of:

But it's not wrong in the head in an interesting (read, utter madman) sense, IMO. It's just... dumb. It tries to be funny with things that would be more interesting if they were serious. Comedy isn't just reduced to make a fool of oneself.

c) the whole 'doing things right' (the whole bunch of family rules, the reaction of Kotoharu) are clearly not reactions a human being would have.

Not to put to fine a point on it, but in reading your complaints, I feel like you might have missed the bit where the main character is supposed to be genuinely and completely bat-shit crazy?

Think it tries a little too hard to be dark and twisted, where it could have more impact if it stretched events out and gave more time for developing characters. Still, it plays well to the author's strengths as a writer and artist, and there's a lot of good to be said for it as far as an experimental seris goes. Let's see where it goes. So long as it doesn't end with this volume, there's plenty of space for improvement.

@LordKragan above me: bruh, use your spoiler tags, for the love of god. If you're writing a novel based on the series, at least make it optional or post it in the forums instead. That's what we have them for.

I don't know how to use spoiler tags in this forums, don't know why when I used them they didn't hide the text, so I gave up.

a)the main character is clearly wrong in the head (perhaps some sort of mental defficency). Otherwise there's no fucking way you can explain the whole: she just killed three persons in a gruesome fashion and mutilated them but I'm stil going to protect my sister! How dare you try to save me!. I have no issue with that (I loved I am Sam) but its annoying when people think it's a cool think. Listen up, bud, what you did went entirely against human instincts (that is, self-preservation) you're a freak of nature and not in the good sense (for this setting). But of course, we need the main character so we have to suck it up with a character I somehow find more moronic and irritating than black clover's in the beginning. Don't get me started on how his personality/reactions seem to be all over the place (first he's angry at them for killing her sister, the next chapter, after being conscious only for a couple of hours he says: meh, don't worry, she was my only family so I don't care since she smiled; because FUCK losing your beloved ones, it's more harmful to dirty the corridors with the filthy shoes).

b ) The motivation of the whole 'monster monster' is moronic. It's the whole attempt to be dark and 'profound' but in the end they'll limit themselves to kill monsters and card carrying villains. But they'll continuously be referring to themselves as monster and the others will do (nevermind that they've seen this flamming asshats save their skin and possibly have done so a couple of times already) because of reasons.It's a false excercise of humility and yet another horrible example of 'tell don't show'.

c) the whole 'doing things right' (the whole bunch of family rules, the reaction of Kotoharu) are clearly not reactions a human being would have. Let alone a sane guy, being so inflexible and batshit insane about 'doing things right' can shatter suspension of disbelief.

d) The villains not having a shred humanity is something that has been done to death. They are monsters and the surprise and interest can wear thin. Chekov said: add only what is extremely necessary to the story. That means that with a couple examples of them being bad is enough, not it being hammered to the extreme with perfect detail (though I have to say I love the slaughters this assholes do) since it can get annoying.

e) The premise that a company that sells organs and prosthetics that turn you into a murdering machine is idiotic. No goberment in their sane minds or with a minimal interest in getting reelected would dare to make such a permission and they keep track of things (patents are quite well regulated by the state).

f) the reporter was killed too quickly. I'm not saying killing her is bad but she's been in only a single chapter and the abortion of her arc (which could have provided us quite a nice exposition in an interesting way) so suddenly feels cheap.

g) the revelation that happens in that chapter, which was plainly obvious. Anyone with a modicum of gray matter could have figured it out right on the spot. Dead herrings leave a nasty stench in the overall story.

h) The cook using his provesion's jargon for regualr talk is annoying in the sense that is somehow makes it feel like all his personality is reduced to: he's the cook, moving on.

Is this series axed? It feels like the story is being rushed.

I don't know about the series' status, but I had kind of assumed that the disorienting rush of events is by design. It feels less like reading an action comic and more like watching the protagonist's rapid descent into PTSD.

When a series goes from establishing or keeping the status quo on to sudden climactic plot events, that's when I might worry about the axe. But Smokin' Parade has never had a status quo yet, except maybe for some ten pages in the first chapter.
