Up to how different it is from the anime.

it follows the basic comedic outline per episode is what I'm talking about except in Cross Anges case, it just takes place in a different world but still follows the basic storyline of the anime

I just wish this series comprised of more than just 1 page per episode

Oh well, if only it could have kept up the quality of the first episode all the way through...

It's just a fact of life that anime just cannot be THAT good. Those who try are bound fall flat on their faces and let's just say that I'm glad that this didn't fail quite as badly as Koutetsujou no Kabaneri did in its 2nd arc....

Now you're just being too harsh. We have far worse stories out there who are still living and kicking, and the execution is not that bad, even with the flaws.

I'm only harsh because the story had to much potential. It might have been unfair to say it's only good as an AMV, but I stand by all my other criticisms.

Honestly, even if you remove the complaints of the historical inaccuracies, it still deserves to get stomped over.

 

It has no character development, which is made worse by the fact that every single character is two-dimensional, the plot literally moves only because of constant deus ex machinas, and it's ham-fisted in trying to tug at heartstrings (Jonas? Existed solely to make you think the spymaster is "complex"... except nobody gave a shit about Jonas and everyone thought the spymaster was a flaming idiot. The captain of the royal guard and her kinda Romeo-and-Juliet romance with the Germanian spy? Maybe it would have been a tear-jerker if it wasn't something that literally happened in ten minutes of coincidences).

 

The best things about the anime are the fanservice, Izetta's fight scenes, and the music; that would have made it a great AMV, but not a good anime.

If you were watching this show expecting realism or A faithful alternate history documentary, where suddenly a witch riding an anti-tank rifle showed up, then what the heck were you expecting?! 

I am still enjoying the anime. Sure, some parts of the very contrived plot do annoy me, but if a girl can flip tanks with magic, then why can't some little kingdom's most elite snipers hit rifles at 200-300m distance?!

The anime is full of flaws, but that doesn't make it bad. It doesn't deserve to get absolutely stomped over a bunch of people who take historical accuracy and/or realism too seriously. (I bet a good deal of those people think Wargaming's titles are realistic lol)

Instead of Izetta being a Mary Sue. It was that enemy leader(because the emperor is not the focus at the moment, so that agent is the leader right now) who was a Gary Stu, the guy literally broke the 4th wall to discover the truth behind her powers.

I don't even know what you're talking about in the first bit, but since you're talking about gunners sucking when I was talking about the snipers being the exact opposite I'm guessing you were paying even less attention to my points than you were to the show.
 
So because you think the plans fell into place too well, even though the show explains exactly why he makes each choice he did, that somehow makes him equivalent to an idealized, flawless, over-skilled author self-insert? He thought "hey we have this situation with a carrier that we don't want to use because they'd just focus on all their power on it and crush it, but maybe if the witch is around they'd send her to deal with it so they won't waste the manpower and we can observe to guess at her flaws." If instead he just predicted she'd come no matter what down to the exact date, time, bearing, and velocity using his supernatural detective powers, THAT would be a Mary Sue.
What you're talking about a problem with contrived plot, at least from your perspective, and has nothing to do with individual characters. You're probably just jealous of his sexy facial hair.
 
Like I said, you can drop whatever garbage you want for whatever reason you want but don't throw terms around when you don't know what they mean. Mary Sue is one of those vague terms that gets muddled a lot but this is definitely not one of those cases.

up until the ship trap episode he just was suspieciously sharp. but the ship episode is completly 'i planned everything' which is where i dropped.
magic is supposed to be op. thats why its magic.
who said the princess is good at running a country? she is pretty and nice so she is popular. makes sense.
ww2 era gunners on peace-addled country sucks? call the presses!

mary sue isn't about being god present to the world. suffice to say its obviously getting aid from the author (beyond a simple plot armor that many main characters get) the ship wasn't a stroke of a madman, it was a well planned con set up by a person who had to bring waaaay to many factors into account, biggest of them why does he think izetta will attack that place, even if they know its there, but also stuff like if the germens knew the ship wasn't a big deal, why the brits didn't or why would the allies need a demonstration when the situation is so dire. with so many wild cards playing exactly like he planned, this couldn't be BUT the plan of a mary sue.

If you wanna drop a show that's perfectly fine and all, and so far all I've been getting from Izetta is mediocre vibes so if nothing big happens to shake things up soon I might do the same.

How is THAT the guy you have a problem with? The magical girl with guns who can beat everyone unless they find out her one terrible weakness, the young princess who can totally run a country and wants to save everyone but doesn't want her friend to fight because friendship and oaths and shit, the elite guard that's apparently also an inhumanly accurate sniper team, and you take issue with the high-ranking agent who just does his job well?
 
The way he just happens to know the perfect next step to figuring out how to deal with this witch might be a little contrived, sure, but everything he does makes sense and doesn't really feel like a "I PLANNED IT ALL" thing. More like "haha I bet this will work, let's find out, aha it worked!"
No bullshit about how he wants to be a beacon of righteousness nor the incarnation of evil, no abnormal abilities, no endearing quirks, and as far as we can tell the only motivation he has is that it's his job and he might be a little patriotic.
Not at all like a Mary Sue, especially when compared to pretty much every other major character in the show.
 
Unless you meant the kid working with him, in which case that's even more off. He's a less competent kid who wants to prove he can actually be just as if not more competent. He's got more going for him in the character development potential department than anyone else so far.

the show was kinda fun at first, but it suffers from acute case of mary sue (the nazi detective)... its a pity but i cant really enjoy this spinoff when i stopped watching the source meterial.

You won't get any of the references in this manga without the anime. The strips so far have been "scenarios from anime, plus someone (usually Izetta) dying in an accident".

Though I feel like the title itself should be changed to reflect that this is the parody released weekly with the anime, so people don't think it's a manga adaptation.
