It is indeed beautiful.

It gives me the shiver you usually get when you listen to really good music.

Thank you, scum (scans)!

Thanks to the scanlators for bringing us this work! It was a lovely read. :)

Should have said in my original post, "Thanks, Scum-scans, for bringing us this gorgeous piece of Miyazaki's works.  I really loved it."

This story had a lot of things that reminded me of the recent movie Hoshi wo Ou Kodomo.
It's Miyazaki, how could it be anything but superlative? The first I saw of his work was "My Neighbor Totoro," which blew my (then) 40 year old mind. I followed it up a couple of years later with "Princess Mononoke," which blew my socks off. I loved the story (but not the English dubbing) and drooled over the artwork. I ended up as a total Miyazaki/Studio Ghibli fan, although I didn't particularly care for the anime "Nausicaa." I was given the manga of Nausicaa (written by Miyazaki), and it still remains one of my favorite manga of all time. The art, story, and philosophy are all sheer creative genius. When I saw "Shuna no Tabi," come up on Batoto, I checked the description out, saw the author's name, and immediately read it. IT DOES NOT DISAPPOINT! It is the same consummate artist and writer that gave us Nausicaa, Totoro, and Spirited Away.

Bottom Line: Whether it's anthropomorphic Panzer Pigs, heroic princesses, or just little girls; anything written by Miyazaki Hayao is going to be not just worth reading, but a consummate work of art. Shuna no Tabi is fantastic. Read it and be invigorated and inspired. Dousirou said simply "beautiful," and was absolutely right.
Beautifull...
