Super last minute!
I'm posting all the translations here: https://tonarinoscanlations.blogspot.com/
I'll post this link on reddit as well.
thanks it work!
If we don't make it by then, hedoro or me will probably release the chapter either on /a/ or on the Weekly Jump ToC thread on LiveJournal. So please look forward to it, regardless m-m
I think I just solved it.
When you go to the first page of chapter 27, click the "settings" icon(that gray thing-forgot the name for it lol) next to the page numbers, then change the server to CDN2. I guess the original server is down or something.
me too...
Hopefully we can make it before bato.to's last day.
this chapter
yep, he's really talented ... I also like his drawing style ... 'cause his style mixes pretty well cute moments and serious and they don't feel awkward at all, also like how his women design (also the serious type of guy too, the MC this time or OMK)
Thanks to the translator for working on this manga since chapter 4. Since it started running in Jump, I was worried at first that it wouldn't be translated, but I'm glad that we've gotten such consistent translations.
Somehow he can end any series and make it natural. Goes to show the level of talent this author has. Also, if he gets a better artist that can do his style but more detailed he can definitely make series at the level of Ao no Flag
Why did it have to end? Goddamnit. Definitely one of the comfiest series I've ever read.
I regret to inform you that in Japan it has already become official that the manga of "Shudan" will end next week. It's a shame :'(
It's been a while since I've been so caught up in a manga, it's so refreshing.
Looking at the author now, I really should have seen it coming.
NOOO MY CUTE LITTLE IYASHIKEI ELEMENTARY SERIESS- is what I was going to say, but the highschool ver seems to have interesting emotional narrative too
I had 11-player matchs as a kid (elementary school) ... I think this is more like minifutbol (football 7, well 8 in this case)
the time skip was how he closed the series ... it never was for the purpose of extending the story.
and well, this kinda feels the same but for different reasons.
1. yep, but a lot of mangakas love to work for shueisha, that's why I said SQ, I'm not sure how Jump+ works 'cause it's for digital released series ... but yep, WSJ is not his place, he can make a better work in another magazine ... even if he didn't make a OMK or MM, I really liked his sports series (shudan and dance midgets).
2. I think Sesuji was cancelled 'cause they already had in mind the 6 guys for this year and started to cut some series and also, yes it's a natural ending ... for the 3rd years, it didn't feel enough for the main characters that could get more time to develop as dancers and characters.
Oh no. He's doing another timeskip.
DOES HE NOT REMEMBER WHAT HAPPENED TO THE DANCE MIDGETS?
Child teams have fewer players than adult teams. You don't see 11 players before late middle-school or high-school age I think.
True, true. But OMK was a doujin-like webmanga and was also done by Yokota from his 2ch days and just like Molester Man, i think this is one of those cases where the artist plays a big part in the whole creation process. OMK without Yokota is no longer OMK (and the same goes for MM). He even did a little 4-koma/epilogue thing for OMK not too long and posted it on his twitter, too.
He only drew Kurosawa; he didn't write it, that was done by Ise Katsura. This distinction is really important and few pay attention to that.
Jump+, YJ or even Sunday or Magazine. Honestly, considering his style, he could fit nicely anywhere other than Jump. I just want another OMK type of story in my life and this guy is probably the only author out there who could make it work.
Pretty sure Sesuji wasn't cancelled, though. Rankings were actually quite good but Yokota simply decided to end it on his own. It was arguably a natural ending.
Might not have a choice in the matter but move to a different magazine, or a new publisher entirely if the rumors are true. There's a long standing rumor that WSJ blacklists you if they cancel you too many times and we have Straighten Up and now Shudan under the belt. Just a rumor mind you and WSJ's editing department is more or less its own independent beast from the rest of Shueisha's publications. It's all a damn shame because I really like this author's work but clearly WSJ is not where he belongs as the readers are pretty consistently not interested.
Initially I was going with middle school since they were in 6th grade (And where I'm at 6th grade is middle), but forgot in Japan 6th grade is still elementary school? and 7-9 is middle school?
Anyways its a pain to fix everything so I'm currently going with Middle > Junior High > High. Sorry for the confusion.
Edit: We'll go back and make the fix. Thank you for the catch
in page 8 of ch.22 ... weren't they in their last year of elementary (6th grade), or middle school and junior high aren't technically the same?
more than the series, hopefully we have the author moving to Jump+, although I would prefer him moving to SQ, there he can make more serious shonen.
Yup, this could've been the final chapter. No regrets here!
